Don't quite know where to start... Well, first off, I am a Christian. I believe that God made the world in six literal days, that existence as a whole is about 10,000 years old, give or take, and I believe with all my heart and soul that Jesus has redeemed my sorry self, and that He is the way, truth and life. Now, I'll admit here and now, I'm NOT perfect, nor am I a saint. My love of Slayer along with my avatar should give some indication that I'm not exactly prim and proper... That's not what this is about though. This is about my love of God, and what he's done for me and through me. I didn't exactly grow up in the most stable of homes... I saw my old man beat my mom like Ike beat Tina from the age of two to the age of seven. I attempted suicide twice while in high school, and I weighed 350 pounds all of four years ago. Christ came into my life in the Summmer of 2000 at FCA camp in Black Mountain, NC. Beautiful countryside, I gotta say. Well, I accepted Christ there, but the problem was, I came back to school, and all I saw around me was hypocrisy. Those who 'claimed' to be Christian were some of the cruelist, most mean-spirited, elitist motherfuckers you'd never wanna meet. Not only would they be complete dicks to me and everyone else, but then they'd have the audacity to tell me and me friends that we were going to Hell because we liked Slayer and Pantera... yeah. Add to the fact that I had a step-dad that I'd get in fist fights with, and in 2002, that's when I tried to commit suicide. Death didn't take, which I'm glad to say. After high school, I went to Earle C. Job Corps Center. If you know anything about Job Corps, you'd know they aren't exactly the nicest places in the world. Compound the fact that up to that point I'd been on 30mg of Paxil and 2.5mg of Risperdal a day since I was ten years old, and you have a suicidal zombie of a teenager. With those drugs, I couldn't tell the waking world from the dream world... EVERYTHING was a daze.
The doctor that put me on those drugs definitely did it for the money, as every other psychiatrist I ever went to was puzzled as to why I was on such a high dose of anti-psychotics. Well, in Job Corps., I got off the drugs, cold turkey. Job Corps. was NOT fun, especially when I started detoxing... once that stuff got outta my system, I could finally tell when I was awake from when I was asleep.
When I got out of Job Corps., I was accepted to Liberty University, which is run by Jerry Falwell. You've probably heard and read a great deal about him, mostly negative. I actually flipped once I made the connection ("THAT Jerry Falwell?! Aww, NO!! YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!!"). Well, I'll admit that there are some things I disagree witht the guy on, but he's not the fumbling idiot I've always heard he was. But it was here that I started meeting Christians that where actually honest-to-God CHRISTIANS. I'm sure you may have heard a great deal of stuff about this place... truth be told, out of Job Corps, the work force, and public school, Liberty has the absolute lowest asshole quotient I've ever seen. Liberty is nothing more that a school... it was God who got a hold of me. I started losing weight, and while I've gained some back, I now weigh 245, a far cry from the 350 I used to weight... by the end of the semester, I'm hoping to drop about 15 (done it before, by the grace of God)
I'm no longer angry, no longer pissed at the world. I forgive all those who say crap about me, because for the first time ever in my life, I have joy in my heart.
Again, I'm no saint. Even around here, I've probably pissed many of you off, and professing faith in Christ here probably isn't gonna win me any friends. But I love Christ, and whether you accept it or not, I love all of you, and if we met in real life, I'd take a bullet for each and every one of you guys. I consider you friends... even those of you who may not like me, and wish me ill... I'd gladly take a chainsaw to the head than see any of you get hurt.
As for God's love... God loves each and every one of you and through Christ's taking a crucifixtion for you, has offered a way to be reconciled to Him. God DOESN'T enjoy sending people to Hell... He doesn't get off on it. However, if you don't want a relationship with Him now, why would you want to spend eternity with Him? Yes, Hell is punishment, but it's also the only alternative there is aside from reconciliation with God. If you don't want to be with God, Hell is the only place He has to send you... in effect, if you don't want to be with Him forever, He has no choice but to give you what you want. Christ forgiveness is open to ALL... from the most foul mouthed motherfucker to the meekest dude and/or dudette around here. He loves all you guys, and so do I. I'm not going away... Like me, love me, or hate me, I'm sticking around. You may not wanna be cool with me, but I'll always be cool with all you guys.
Word is bond.
I am in no way a Bible scholar, and probably won't have the answers for many of you... but here's the email of a couple of my professors and friends... they'll be able to help you out way more than I can.
lpercer@liberty.edu My philosophy professor, and Captain America fan.
whoneycutt@liberty.edu My general education professor, "Rabbi", and former Asteroid player.
If you do wish to email them, just please include in the subject heading that you are emailing them regarding Kevin's Testimony, and that you are a forum member.
Good for you, believing in Christ improved your life.
Still don't see how anybody with a half an ounce worth of brain can believe that the world is only 10,000 years old.
Trying to explain that is a bit over my head, as I'm still learning much of it myself... if you wanna look it up, check out this site: http://www.answersingenesis.org/Quote:

Fair enough, but at least I was honest with you.Quote:

I still don't see how anyone with an ounce of brain, who has not had some sort of revelation from god, can believe full heartily in the Christian religion.Quote:
