Big cars, expensive gas...

Local news did a story on this, local suv dealerships say they are hurting. Granted johnstown is not an economic powerhouse anyhow, so the pricetag would have been a deterrent anyhow, but the news story made it sound like it is about the same everywhere, they even suggested that hybrids were selling much better, of course im not sure who well they sold before.

$16 fills up my tank at the local $2.21/gallon gas station. The rest of the stations just as far from my house are all $2.30 and so, though. Thank you, Gulf. Your cheap gas makes me laugh at Shell and Mobil. Heartily.

I seriously thought about trying to find a cheap beater Honda or Nissan for about $1000 to drive around everywhere to save on gas prices. But I did the math, and I came out ahead just driving my current 16 mpg car than spending the money on a secondary car and saving gas in the long run.

On the other hand, I DID later pick up an 84 RX-7, which should get slightly better gas mileage...when I get it on the road and give it a good tune up.

I just advise getting better oil, the kind that saves on Gas mileage, even if it is miniscule you'll only pay about 10-20 bucks more and it'll save you probably around 100, plus it lasts 5000 miles instead of 3000.

I don't have any pics of the 84 GSL-SE, but yeah it's my project car. It doesn't look like much, but it was hauling ass, it was quite a bit faster than my 91, even with a dying transmission. Faster AND it had better gas mileage (back on topic!)
