Thanks for the heads up. Also, why would they be expensive if they are 5-10 years old? Even if they were over 100K miles, they still run great..thats what I love about Japanese cars.

I just need something to hold me over for 2-5 years. By then, next year I'll be out of college and by then, I can find a job and make money to pay off tuition and a car at the same time.

Yes, because we know that all "Japanese" cars run forever, and all "American" cars are crap. Even though alot of "Japanese" cars are assembled in the US by Americans, and sourced from American parts (though they are rapidly moving south of the border too) and even designed by an American. Even the "Japanese" cars that are made in plants that assemble "American" versions - clearly the foreign nameplate makes all the difference. Or the "Japanese" Mazdas that are European or American Fords (which are ALL CRAP of course) or the "Japanese" Suzuki that's a South Korean Daewoo.

All I know is it will be a cold day in hell when I spend $15,000/20,000 on a new car and hand the profits over to a foreign economy. I want it made here, sourced here, financed here and by one of the few remaining "American" car companies. Most Americans either don't want those things, or don't care. Most Americans suck.

They are still expensive because EVERYONE buying a used car wants one. Normal people want them for their intended purpose (good build, good economy etc) while idiots want them because they saw the Fast and the Furious too many times and think all Hondas are sports cars. So, of course, price goes through the roof.

It's weird... I'm no fan of leasing, but you can lease a brand new Accord V6 for about the same price as buying (with payments) a 99 or 00 Accord.

i paid $6000 last fall for a 97 camry with 100k miles. It's expensive compared to a similiar aged american car because those depriciate like stones, but honestly it blows the 95 Taurus i was driving with the same milage on it away. Before this car I have never owned a non american car. I finally got sick of all my family's Chrystlers and Fords breaking down and all the problems that crop up as you approach and go over 100k miles. Know what i learned? Everything people say about Japanese cars is true. My car drives like something with 30k miles on it not 100k. The dash doesn't vibrate at highway speed like the Taurus and my mom's Voyager do. It doesn't make any sharp clunks going over speedbumps like my Sebring did. The materials feel better and fit tighter. I don't care if it's made in japan or a japanese car made in america, it's made better. That's what matters to me. I'm never going to buy american again until they prove they can make a car as good as the Japanese, and i don't have much faith in that happening any time soon.

I drove SUV's for ten years before realizing the error of my ways. I picked up an xA and saved a lot of money on gas.

Then I got rid of the xA, and now we drive a large grey van w/ a trailer than gets about one mile to the gallon.

Is it made of pot? cuase that would be cool.

Alot of American cars (Some Chevy Cavaliers and all the Ford Probes) have asian engines in them and run really good for a looong time.

The only problem then, is all the other American car parts goto shit (exhaust, power locks, tranny) and you are stuck with a shitty car that still runs. :lol:

Plus, VWs tell you what percentage of the car is from where. Mine is 30% Mexican, about the same as me.

If I were the car makers, I dont blame them for making cars in the US. Less on importing cars and more production. Same goes for CSR when you call a company..the call is sent to Indonesia or whatever country. Why? Costs. Even if Japanese cars are made in the US, they still by far run a hell of a lot better then American cars being made in America. An Accord, Camry, Civic, Corolla, etc...can outlast an American car. As someone stated, their 100K+ Japanese car is running as if it was on 30K. You cant say the same for American cars. 100K would be 150K+ on American cars.

My '95 Taurus has almost 89K miles and it runs shitty, but it takes me where I need to go..for the time being. I give the car another 2-3 years before its dead. My '02 Honda Odyssey can outlast my Taurus when the time comes.
