Seem to be shots from some Matrix project that Square is working on - I don't keep up on talk of future Matrix projects, so I'm not sure exactly. But good GOD.

Storyline wise, that movie may have been ass, but the CG work was amazing, and they are only getting better.
I think Blizzard is better with CG. Luckily Blizzard can also rely on their excellence in 'gameplay-making-skillz0rz' :)
What made the movie bomb in theaters was that it never got around nearly half as much as the most ignored current movie did. I was lucky I even found one that was playing it. Now with the DVD release, I don't think it sold nearly as much either, nor do I know if they are still keeping it in print.
But say what you will, I enjoyed this film... KISS MY.... well you know what! :lol:

Don't see what you're so excited about though Doshi. Those pics look like very good game CG, but nowhere near the nigh-photorealistic work of the FF film.
And so's ya know, they're from Square's installment of "Animatrix", a series of animated (some computer, some traditional) short films which flesh out the backstory of the Matrix universe. Each one is being handled by a different group (I understand one will be overseen by somebody who had a hand in Ninja Scroll) and they will be released on the Matrix site to hype up the new movies, then eventually collected on a DVD release.
Whoa... okay I'm officially a dumbass. :) Turns out I wasn't looking at them full-size, so they were aliased up the ass. You're right Doshi, that's some great shit.
Keep in mind, I meant the game division of Square. It's not really fair to compare the 98 million that went into making the FF movie to ANY video game CG :)
Final Fantasy TSW bombed because they attempted to satisfy the fans of the game series, and the summer movie audience at the same time, and failed laughably and miserably. Final Fantasy TSW sucked because it wasn't Final Fantasy. It was some lame homage to Aliens (and Hollywood cliches in general, it seems) fused with hippie karmic themes and overtones. And the visuals were very good, but it's funny that Final Fantasy X's cutscenes were of greater quality, with on-point lip synching and more convincing emotive nuances.
The Final Fantasy movie should have either been a) a direct-to-video release, with an actual FANTASY theme that's similar to the other Final Fantasy games, or b) an original adventure/story completely unrelated to Final Fantasy. It seems they've learned their lesson with this Matrix vignette and opted for choice 'b)'. But too little too late, since Square Pictures is all but dead and buried thanks to one of the biggest bombs of 2001.
BTW, those scenes from their Matrix skit look kickass.
