Do you think the next Xbox will be backwards compatible.

It would be cool if it had it, but it wouldn't make a difference to me. I'll just play my old Xbox.

I hope so, but I doubt it.

oh, and basically all I use my PS2 for is to play old psx games.

It should be there, MS knows its going into a major battle and not bringing every weapon to the table from the start is bad news.

You make a valid point (I think I played FFT on my PS2 and that's about it) but if you can play Xbox games on X360 and save yourself some shelf space why not do it?

I am to a degree. I'm really more concerned about this pattern of only saving to the hard drive. I think it's a bad idea to not allow players to back-up their saves on a removable media, because if your system dies, so do your saves.

Now that I think about it, I don't think there's a way you can transfer your old Xbox 1 saves to the 360 (at least those that can be only saved on the hard drive), unless Microsoft allows you to do it through LIVE, which seems unlikely.

EDIT: I thought about this a little more and realized that you might be able to transfer hard drive-only saves to the 360 through a System Link, but I doubt Microsoft will implement this functionality. They really need to tell developers to allow saving on both memory card and hard drive if the save file is only going to be a small number of blocks.

I had a problem with this already when my HD died and I couldn't transfer a good number of files over =/

Some just CAN'T be copied and some are too big for the mem card. It's dumb.

I heard that there's a way to back up files that normally can't be copied to a USB storage device using an Xbox/USB cable. Anyone know if there's any truth to this? I would like to back up everything on my Xbox, if possible.

I don't think so. When you connect a USB Flash Memory Drive to an Xbox, the Xbox just recognizes the drive as a really, really big memory card. Perhaps if the Xbox was modded, you might be able to transfer hard drive saves onto a memory card, but I don't know if this is possible.
