Buy one get 5 free?
Nintendogs came out.
Puppies > everything.
I wonder if that might also include people going in and buying pre-orders for the two new colors as well. (Not trying to dog the DS, just saying.)
I'm more amazed that 33,000 people still bought the PS2.
Yeah, you would think everyone in Japan already owns two.Quote:

Do they even release the same XBox games over there as we get here? It doesn't make sense.

Am I the only person who's never had a sony product break on me? 5+ year old headphones from sony, Launch PS2 (with flip-top mod), Playstation... think that's all.
But frostwolf, I was thinking the same thing hehe.
My launch run JPS2 has been in several countries with several owners running on incorrect voltage or converters since, well, launch. That box has seen way too many international shipping labels. It runs flawlessly. My USPS2 is alright as well, and my PSone and the LCD screen have never caused me any problems.
The PSP doesn't count as far as I'm concerned.
Barely over a hundred Xbox, that's so pathetic. I use my Xbox FAR more than any of my other consoles. My friggin' DS hasn't been turned on other than to be used as a flashlight in the middle of the night in over a month. I'm only keeping it in hopes of a game coming out I actually care about.
Naruto came out as well, and they just released new colors for the DS in Japan.
The DS is still akin to having an encyclopedia slowly etched into the lips of your anus, however.
If everyone is buying a replacement then we are looking at the biggest attach ratio ever.
anus lips? :confused:Quote:

How much do Xboxs cost in japan?
They do, but the japs aren't all that interested in FPS games, actually.Quote:

17600 yen.Quote:

they dont seem to like western rpgs either, since the x-box has had kotor, fable, kotor 2, jade, and morrowind. all of those were amazing games that sold well(except for jade, havent seen sales numbers for that yet, but they had better be phenomonal). the japanese dont even have the excuse that there are better pc versions of most of these games, becasue pc gaming in japan is mostly pornos.Quote:

Well Nintendogs just came out in Japan, and it got a 40/40 in Famitsu (joining Vagrant Story, Soul Calibur, Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker). And it sold like 180,000 copies this week, fastest selling game for the DS since Super Mario 64 DS. That could have a lot to do with it as well.
PSP is readily available in Japan and the U.S.Quote:

They released 1 million for launch day and a second shipment shortly after. They only sold 650k or whatever the number was. Sorry about your area, but they are readily available in most, two stores that I know of still have over 30 PSPs from the first shipment Sony sent.
Well then my area sucks.
I live in San Diego btw, not some little bum fuck town in the middle of no where.
I could definitely walk into 12 stores within 5 minutes of my house and buy you one. Maybe even 15 stores.
I could walk into Fry's and see another sign saying that they should be getting in ten maybe possibly sometime this week but they aren't sure.
My local walmart still has PSPs from the first shipment, and not just the shitty gretsky bundle, either.
You should keep in mind that the DS is at the beginning of its lifespan and the other consoles are at the end of theirs.
The best thing about San Diego was the movie Anchorman.Quote:

It's real. At first there was confusion as to what copy of Famitsu it was in. But it's indeed the real deal. And that particular Famitsu just came out in Japan today.Quote:

Great games, but hardly 100% on games.
Hell everyplace has PSP's to spare, I don't think there has been a gamestore or a major electronics chain, that doesn't have less than 10 units each.
Its gonna sell alright, there's no shortages to hide behind sell-through numbers. Once they get rid of the bundle and drop the price to 150. It will sell like tentacles vids to a jap teen.

The Best Buy I work in still has some from its initial shipment of like 240 I think. I have seen many come back and exchanged for new ones because of dead pixils, so they might have less than they actually sold. And you can go to any of the Best Buys in my area (minneapolis/st.paul with suburbs) and get one with out a problem at all.
Every store sold out of DSs in the first 3 days, and then sold out every shipment for several more weeks. Granted that was the holidays, I expect that to happen for the PSP this Christmas as well though.
I am baffled as to why American gamers take any more stock in Famitsu scores than they do, say, EGM scores. Because if you actually look at the mag, you will see that they devote about as much space to their review as EGM does, and if you read a translation (not a Babelfish one, someone by a real human being), youll see that they dont have any great insights or anything. The magazine really is EGM Japan. Does anyone care when a game gets a perfect score in EGM? I dont think so.
San Diego is basically a sprawled out shopping mall with amazing beaches. I'm not sure I'd want to raise kids in LA but I would in San Diego. LA is more of a place for young people, you move to San Diego when you actually got responsibilities.Quote:

I don't care that it got 40/40, just saying that may have to do with increased DS sales. I can't begin to understand how it got a 40/40, other than it was reviewed by the Japanese, and they seem to eat this kind of crap up.
I always proclaimed Nintendogs to be wicked awesome. I'm glad I purchased a DS. Animal Crossing + Nintendogs is a cool deal.
I was thinking about this yesterday.Quote:

Nintendogs is cool. It's hardly a game, but it's a fun toy. Which is why I'll be getting it--it's unlike anything else on consoles, it's entertaining, and that's worth a purchase.Quote:

I've only seen one person outside of their house with a PSP (and it was a kid that was like 10 years old) compared to about five DS' (including one guy that looked to be about mid-20's and with his girlfriend). So really, I've barely seen anyone with either but it seems like people with PSPs aren't taking them out. I know a bunch of people around here have them but it doesn't seem like anyone's using the portable system as, you know, a portable.Quote:

I've seen both systems, in action if you will, with startling regularity, though I've always known this particular region to be somewhat more inclined to such things as videogames. Maybe it's because there are so many Gamestops in the immediate area (9 now, with a 10 on the way) that their mechandice has a way of simply permeating the masses to where seeing a DS or a PSP is not unlike seeing someone with a Frapachino.
