IGN Readers Top 99 Games of All Time

All games had to receive at least 100 reader ratings.

This list is comprised of single, stand-alone titles and doesn't include compilations, expansion packs or add-ons.

Titles with multiple editions such as collector's boxes, gold editions or re-releases have been consolidated into one single entry.

Only games that have been released are eligible (this is for all you punks who think the upcoming GameCube Legend of Zelda is a perfect "10" already).

Games released anywhere in the world (that means Japanese-only releases) qualify for the list.

Multiple platforms for winners are listed if the games are essentially the same. However, if a game on multiple platforms shares a name but is different enough in design or gameplay, it has not been included in the "Platforms:" field.

After you've had a chance to check out the readers' list, tell us what you think about it on the IGN Boards.

I'm pretty shocked Halo/Halo2 weren't both in the top 10, and also that GoldenEye was ranked ahead of both of them (considering your typical IGN voter).

Advance Wars #62? (Best GBA game of all time)

Here's my favorite: Starcraft #74 .. a few spaces down #71 Brothers in Arms ... Lawl.

FFIII #20 then Chrono Trigger at #4 ? ehhh.

WAY too many current games on that list. Guess that means that most IGN readers must be 8-12 years old.

These two being on the list made me laugh:
#73: TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
#71: Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30

RE4 at #1? Maybe top 25, but come on. This is coming from one of the biggest RE fans around.

It really is the worst list ever, but look at their methodology. They just looked at their 31,000 long database, clicked the "sort by reader review score", and took the first 99 on the list. Its not hard to see why RE4 is #1 and GOW is #6, dipshits like those at IGN will play the game for 20 minutes and then give it a 10 on IGN.

Everytime I see a list like this, everyone calls it the worst list ever. This one is pretty freaking bad though. Any list with Skies of Arcadia on it needs to be tossed straight in the shitter. Splinter Cell in the top 5? Huge negative.

Cant say I'm at all surprised by the list. Every time some half baked, crackpot game site releases one of these, I just laugh to myself. This Readers Choice one in particular.

Actually, this is only the 2nd time Ive said that, Im pretty sure. The first time was the top 100 that TNL tried to do a few years ago. It really was the shittiest thing ever... until IGN came along and stole the title. Thanks, IGN! :tu:

Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radiant Silvergun Had pretty respectable spots (#17 and #12 respectably). It's a shame RS was the only vertical shooter on the list though.

nah dude. Every major site or magazine that had one of these lists, TNL shitted on it. IGN, Gamestop, Game informer, egm....you name it. Not that theres anything wrong with that, im just sayin.

The point is that the list has an obvious PC deficiency. Aside from the great P&C games (Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle) its also missing any mention of the Thief games, System Shock 2, FALLOUT, etc. Now, I'm no PC fanboy, but even I know that some of the best games to ever come out were on the PC.

Yeah, this is definiately a different list from the one I remember, that one atleast had Fallout for christ's sake.

Yea, I think there's all of 1 on that IGN top 50, which is pitiful. Thats one reason why I said that list was so stupid and shitty and shows how lame TNL's gaming tendencies are. Thankfully, I think a lot more people on TNL play PC games now (even though the market is much lamer and more stagnant now than it was back in 2002 or whenever that list was created). Make it now and Id say the PC would have... 10.

Which is a little better. But gah, Nights at #23 and JET SET RADIO FUTURE AT #33?
