I've been getting excited about this comeback kid, lately, so I did a little write-up up about the epic saga that was the development of prey. It's a story of hope, a fall from grace and the triumph of perseverence. Hope you enjoy it.

Man, the multiplayer levels look like a combination of some cheap lazer tag arenas and cliche military base/corridor crawling environments (thanks Doom III engine!), but all the crazy gameplay gimmicks get me excited enough that I'd still like to try out a multiplayer demo.
The decreased player size (8 players max in multiplayer) is also somewhat refreshing, as it seems like it might give the multiplayer action a more cramped and frantic feel that's closer to older DM titles like Quake (or more recently on the consoles, the obscure but enjoyable Outtrigger on Sega's Dreamcast) than the more faceless, impersonal DM modes in modern games like UT 2004 where you’re competing against 40+ people in large facilities/complexes.
Anyone ever get around to playing this? I just picked up the CE (a steelbook significantly larger than a Wii that comes with pewter figures, artbook, soundtrack, etc) for $8 on clearance at Toys R Us.
I finished the game a week or so ago, pretty good.

It's very old school, with some fun twists. Got a Quakey feel to it, but the maps are designed for small player counts and what-not. It's barebones, but what's there is a lot of fun.Quote:

The regular editions of Prey and Lost Planet aren't discounted, just the Collector's Editions. Ridge Racer 6, King Kong, and Amped 3 are also 8 bucks. I'm still bummed that I missed out on Oblivion CE for $5 back at CC a few months ago but the upcoming GOTY edition (which includes Shivering Isles) will ease that pain.Quote:
