No, but you proved that someone doesnt need to know anything about videogames and technology to get a job for a major game "journalist" site.Quote:

No to all of the above. Fact is, we have no idea what Xbox 360 is capable of right now, especially since all we've seen are a few screenshots of a few *launch* games.
Yeah...but I don't think you're going to see the large jump over the years with the XB360 as you would in traditional consoles.
Why do you say that? Do you have any reason at all to think this system will be different from every system before it?
I feel ya, at least SNES' SMW looked better than NES' SMB3. There should be a major evolution. I guess Namco is just going to release a title with a lot of boobs on the launch day for getting clients.
Well yes. The tools available to developers will be top notch, and therefore, people have less reason to make better ones.
Well, I dont think these pics are definitive of the power of the X360 - If that is indeed what they are. They probably are just definitive of the programmers' lack of experience on how to get the most out of the system at this point. Either that or laziness on their part - I'm sure we'll end up seeing a lot of games that SHOULD look better but may not due to the rush of trying to get games for this thing on the shelf.
The second pic looks pretty good...they all look pretty good if you don't look at them too hard.
Something does not look right about these pictures -- and not just in a "omg this isn't toy story lawl" sense. The lighting of the models seems way off, and the characters almost look superimposed on top of the backgrounds. The shadowing looks really inconsistent too (look at the first and last picture -- one has very hard shadows, one has very soft shading, but they are both in daytime lighting.)
FuryFox brings up a great point -- more developers need to spend time working on making things look better in motion this generation, for two reasons: the effort on increasing graphical complexity and detail may be hitting the point of dimishing returns, and relatively the animation aspects of real-time graphics is way behind the rendering aspects. Look at that other game people are talking about today (Ninety Nine Nights?), you can put 100 soldiers of reasonable photorealism on the screen but they still all move in the exact same way!
Of course, this is all irreveleant if the game plays the same as all of the other DoA games (at least DoAU provided a solid online model, which by itself was a significant addition.) But who actually plays launch games, anyway? (Team Ninja should just partner up with Illusion, make a DoA h-game, and be done with it. Jeez)
