Man...I picked this game up at Zellers on Friday for ...wait for it...$49 CND...Totlly wicked. EB lost my pre order and I had to run around to get meself a copy of the game.
Yay, I finally opened up the Spartan.
Man, the AI in this game (like always) is super cheap.
Death to Alpha (and Itagaki for creating her) :(
WTF? Christie only has four fucking costumes! Hitomi only has 8 costumes here, & 3 are pallet swaps. After the costume bonanza that Ultimate was, this is pretty disapointing. Oh well, I guess they had to save something for the download content, but it still pisses me off.

MICROTRANSACTIONS!
I kinda feel like the air juggles are longer now, or at least more pronounced (characters will seem to hover in the air in slo-mo) but that could be my eyes being tricked by the overall speed increase (at least it FEELS alot faster). Reversals definately take a ton more precision. I could never have given you any frame data, but I think before you had pretty close to a full second to pull off a reversal, which in some cases (faster moves) was forgiving enough for you to actually start the reversal before your opponent's move started to come out and still catch it. I'll bet you probably have about half the time now as before; I was getting slapped around pretty good with shit that I saw coming and just couldn't land the counter in time. Less damage from reversals should help balance things out a bit better (hasn't this been happening with the series after 2/Hardcore pretty much every time?) and prevent some cheese.Quote:

The whole thing just feels alot more aggresive, which I think is a good thing.
Stages all look completely gorgeous. Anyone notice that the cars in the Vegas stage will actually slow down and honk/ drive around you if you're standing in their path well ahead of time, and only really plow into you if you get knocked in front of them suddenly? I though it was cool that they weren't just scripted to come sailing through at full speed every so often.
Yeah, there was a shitload more in Ultimate than this. Unless of course there is some quirky parameter that must be satisfied to get more stuff, which I kinda doubt. I think I heard too that Team Ninja DID NOT want to support downloadable content on this one, but I have no reliable source on that for referance and it actually contradicts stuff they've done in the past (Hurricane packs and DOA3 booster disk).Quote:

They flat out said long ago that because the costumes are much harder to create this time around, that they will have nowhere near the amount that Ultimate has, and that later on they will release them as downloads. This was mentioned MONTHS ago, so don't be pissed.Quote:

Also, in some matches the lag is terrible. I'm talking Matrix slow. And no, I'm not playing in a room with 8 people. I'm talking about my friend down the street. Its kinda odd, I was playing my friend from NJ and it was cool, but I played some with my friend down the way and 30% of the matches were lag-tastic (And before someone jumps in and says my/his connection sucks, we both had full green bars).
How do I change the system voice? I can't find the option anywhere I suck.
P.S. send me a fucking friend request people. I want to play everyone.
Look under Others in Game Settings.Quote:

I don't know how I feel about negative achievements. I guess it is fine if they are 0 point achievements (which in this case, they are), but I'm such a completist I feel I should get them anyway.
Thoughts?
Yeah, my thought is that if you care about getting ZERO gamerpoints you gotta think about your priorities :) It's Team Ninja's way of continuing to have a sense of humor about things.Quote:

I can't stress enough how valuable this mode is). The other alternative if you just want a more realistic opponent would be to spar against some of the other players here like Korly, Chux, and Dipstick.Quote:

Everyone has a series of attacks that vary from high, mid, and low. The counter system (called "holds" in Dead or Alive) allow you to turn an opponent's offensive attack to your advantage -- provided you choose the proper counter-attack.
Here are the following "counters" -- activated in conjuction with the D-pad and F (X button simultaneously).
High hold (used against high kick) -- Diag. Up+Foward w/F
Mid kick hold -- Forward+F
Mid punch hold -- Back+F
Low hold (used against low punchs/kicks) -- Diag. DF+Forward
There are also jumping attacks that you'll also need to either use forward or back against. Timing is a lot less forgiving against these, so again, practicing in the training mode would be your best option. Pick a character, then configure the CPU's actions to execute a specific attack and/or combo string. Once you become more familiar with the animations and attack style, it will eventually become second nature. At the risk of sounding cheesy, half the fun about this game is learning the reversal system.
Another thing too, while you may not be encountering a lot of people abusing throws -- it's a good idea to develop the proper timing to reverse those too. Generally, you have to spot the opening frames to reverse an attempted throw by pressing F+Punch together. This can be especially effective when playing against grapplers and characters like Leifang, La Mariposa and Hitomi who are capable of pulling off a series of throws at once. Fortunately, the game provides a visual cue, called "Combo Throw", but it's better to naturally pick up on the timing on your own.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the info. Now I remember why I suck at fighters. I don't have the patience to learn everything. That aside. I can tell I'm going to have a lot of fun playing this game with you guys. I'm just going to have a really hard time getting the achievments.Quote:

I'm a monster at this game now. I'm ready to play some of the better players here, instead of preying on the weak (Josh, Chux).

1. Go into Sparring.Quote:

You will be at least decent with that character within an hour or two. No need for dedication.
Stick with it, the more practice the better you get. That's the attraction of a fighting game, you should be shitty when you start. It's when you grasp the mechanics of the game when it really opens up.Quote:

Unless the option to "Join Game in Progress" is an option in the Xbox Guide menu, you can't just hop in. The most easiest option would be to have him send you an invite.Quote:

Yeah -- I am planning to do a bit of cleanup myself. As far as I am concerned, if I am no longer playing them in 360 or Xbox games, there's no reason for them to be on my list.Quote:

The one reason you would want to buy the outfits in Zach's Shop is because playing through time attack over and over is boring as all hell. Specifically, the final fight with Alpha-152. Fighting that bitch is both frustrating as all hell and absolutely boring -- not a good combination.

Yeah, I've been messing around in sparring, but I gotta admit, fighters just aren't my bag. I love them to death, but I can never get good at themQuote:

Just got a 360 yesterday, and signed onto Live. I hopelessly suck at the game (for the moment), but I'm up for some matches. There's no better way to gain experience and improve than to get whooped a few dozen times and learn from your mistakes. I just hope that Roadrunner's crappy routing doesn't introduce too much lag.
I was trying to play a few matches online but nobody was on. Chux beat me down a few times then left. Then some other guy came on and I won 4 times in a row and he quit. Bastard. :( Holy shit do I suck. I need counter skills bad.
I just got the newest family guy episode. I'm watching it then hopping on DOA, hopefuly for a few hours.
Lets get some shit going bitches.
And if you have an xbox 360 and haven't sent me a friend request then wtf.

Korly: Sorry I didn't join earlier. Too many people were over and a movie was about to start. Regardless, send me an invite sometime and hopefully I don't get completely crushed.

Maybe, because Microsoft is not allowing any third-parties to create a 360 controller without their approval. I have no idea if the 360 checks to see if an attached controller is approved or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft did that.Quote:
