The guide bug doesn't seem to happen as much if you don't use the guide while the game is loading. Just wait until someone else is playing a match & you should be good.

It's weird putting a voice with the poster. Some people sound completely different than I thought they would.
But I sounded exactly like you thought I would. Which is, somehow, bumming me out.
Haha, really? I didn't get to hear you too much because there were like two other guys blathering away in there. You sound like a nice guy. :icepick:Quote:

Yeah, what's up with this locking up crap? How often does everyone's 360 lock up when playing DOA4? Mine has done it 2 times since I opened the box last night. Both times it was only on for about 30 minutes...my total play time is like 4 hours max.Quote:

Hey, I don't mash with everybody! :( I actually know how to use Ayane and Kasumi as I have been playing with them since DOA 2. I do mash with the new characters though.Quote:

bahn - if I see you on tonight in a joinable room, I'll drop by to whup some ass. I was gonna do that the past few days, but kept getting invites to play with SA goons. :p

yeah. good job button masher.
Can anybody give me any tips on how to do La Mariposa's Deja Vu Combo Throw? It is the only move I can't do of hers in sparring mode. When you do a combo throw do you input the commands all at once or do you have to wait during certain parts of the animation?
do the first part. wait for the screen to say "combo throw." do the second part. wait for the screen to say "combo throw." do the third part.
I'll be on in a few. Someone come play me!
Ah, thanks. Some of these moves are fucking impossible. I can't see myself pulling these off in a real fight.Quote:

Aside from Josh's comment, you should know that the general rule for combo throws is that the next button sequence in order needs to be inputted during the previous move and completed before the previous move is complete. Using Deja vu as an example, you need to enter the commands for the 2nd phase movements during the 1st phase movement, and you need to finish entering the 2nd phase commands before the 1st phase movement is finished. Same goes for entering the 3rd phase commands during the 2nd phase movements. Basically, there are short pauses between the commands sequences, with the commands themselves being entered quickly. Good luck.Quote:

I got a 360 at launch and have been playing DOA4 alot right now. Send me an invite... I miss the days of classic battles with dipstick, sundog, and furyfox. Furfox plays alot on my account but right now he gets his a** handed to him by my Lei Fang.

I finally got my 360 back a few days ago and grabbed this game. It's nice to finally play against people instead of the A.I. like I've been doing since whenever DOA first came out. I play Jann Lee and Hayabusa mainly, I want to try someone different, but I'm not sure who...maybe brad or Lisa

not many... I've got that achievement. To my memory, I've collected:Quote:

I'm sure there's a few I'm missing on that list, but those are the ones that are fresh in my mind. Best of all, it's not cumulative so you can keep on replaying survival to get them all.
Some more observations and tips. I'm sure most of you already know, but since some are new to the series, and some of this stuff is new to DOA4:
-There is now a third High variant of the spinning "get up" kicks; hold up+k to do it. This, plus simply standing up and throwing, will quickly teach people to back off and let you get up.
-Lisa, Tina, Bass, Bayman, Spartan, Gen-Fu, and Leon (maybe more) have air throws that aren't covered in their Exercise mode. Tina, Bass, Leon, and Bayman have ground throws (also not covered). Air throws only work on big launches now; no more snagging them right above the ground.
-Many more characters have special "get up" moves beside the various spin kicks. These are not detailed in "Exercise". I don't know them all, but here's some of the characters that I've seen. Many times this are done with F+P or a directional input and F+K: Tina (dropkick, tackle), Bass (dropkick), Ayane (special spin kick), Hayate (special spin kick), Leon (tackle), Bayman (leg grab), Kasumi (double kick, ninja kick). I'm sure there's more.
-Like in previous games, you can modify some costumes buy selecting them with x or y. Lisa can go maskless in any outfit with one, or masked in her catsuit, Lei Fang has different hairstyles and glasses, and I think Kasumi still has her braids and ponytail. Probably more.
-I can't recall (no 360) if stages have day/night variants, but some did in earlier versions and probably do in DOA4.
-If you're playing Spartan on the Vegas strip, occasionally a Warthog full of marines will drive by (and can hit you).
-You are able to dodge the environmental dangers (like cheetahs, dinosaurs, cars) with the b+F mid-punch reversal. Pretty much mad props if you do this and your opponent gets hit by whatever obstacle would've nailed you both.
-Some characters have special wall moves. They are not covered in Exercise. Some are unique, and some are normal moves (b+P+K for Tina) that have different properties when your back is to a wall. Lisa has unique moves for the ring stage, where she is able to stand on the ropes or swing through them (start with b+P+K). Not sure if the other wrestlers do.
-Many more unique tag throw animations added. Check them out.
-All characters have special stair/slope moves, "Man-surfing". If your back is to the stairs, use b+F+P to activate it. If your opponent's back is to the stairs, use neutral throw (F+P) to use it. (surprised how few know about this one)
-You can vault over low "walls" (like the median in Vegas strip, or the tree in Dinosaur land) by double-tapping forward, usually after you've just knocked your opponent over one. While vaulting, each character has a special P and K attack, maybe more for individual characters.
-The "Age" setting in options still does nothing.
Gen Fu has one -- a vicious shouler ram that I would be happy to demonstrate in a match. ;)Quote:

Also, just because a move isn't in exercise doesn't mean that it's not in the in-game movelist. Just make sure to check the movelist's various sections for what you're missing when you're exercise mode.Quote:

None of them cause critical stun on normal hit! This removes the high/mid/low mixup out of his game, which is very fundamental to 3D fighters in general. His other major problem is that he is unsafe as all hell. All of his strings leave him at significant disadvantage on block, and if you stop a string (or finish with a low that hits) you are going to get thrown. This does not rear its face nearly as much online due to the wonders of lag making all moves safer than they really are (but his lack of good lows is a huge problem).Quote:

He seems like the goods from Gen, Lei Fang, and Jan Lee all in one.
Like you said though, throwing online is really nerfed. Offline I'm all about the throws after blocked strings, but online it's just asking for some more PP's to the face. I'm not sure how much this is favoring my evaluation of Elliot.
Granted, I'm not saying he's up there with Hayate and Helena, but for a "Gen Fu clone"...Actually, by your analysis Gen Fu doesn't seem that well off either. Besides his db+P, I can't think of any significant low threat Gen Fu presents.
I play Tina mostly, I can't think of any good low attacks that stagger on normal hit either. I don't find my low game is crippled though, as her db+P is almost always landing as a counter, and most her other lows are knockdowns. To be honest I'm sure Tina is even all that great, with all her mid-high strings, but she seems better than she was (DOAU) and I did fine with her then.
Only a couple of hours every day. ;) He has an interesting move set. It's easy to belt out the strings (which are oh so reversible), but his strengths are the very strong and deceptive single hits and 2 hit combos, followed by the monster juggles. I've had to spend some time looking carefully at the moves because, unlike Gen Fu, Eliot's attack levels are not always obvious -- particularly the hand strikes. I'm surprised at how very few people seem to be playing him -- I suppose he doesn't have the immediate aesthetic appeal of the the top chics and ninjas.Quote:

You'd think you'd be in a position to follow up with a throw or string attack, but there doesn't seem to be enough time to pull either off before the opponent can block/attack. In other words, it's really not even worth the attempt.
ahaha, this message I got on live from bahn just tells me he's scurred to get another asswhuppin'

Word. In fact, at least in my experiance, the whole "rock/paper/scissors" mechanic of strike/counter/throw is set aside in online play in favor of simply blocking and striking with the occasional throw. I've seen very few players even attempting to counter with any regularity, possibly because of the risk.Quote:

I'm pretty sure that rumor got started back when DOA2 came out on DC. AFAIK, noone has ever been able to prove that there is any truth to it, and Team Ninja probably continues to include it because it has achieved the status of a mainstay (with no actual purpose). There was even a hacked DC save file floating around on the net for a while that had the age set to over 200 and that didn't really seem to make any diff. at all either.Quote:

Oh shit, I'm not that far off from A- after all. Only about 1000 points to go
Fuck Ayane, fuck being low kicked out of midair, fuck A rank and fuck the retarded imbalance between the points you gain when you win and points you lose when you're beaten
But most of all, fuck Ayane
Yeah, that handicap units in place can really make ya grind teeth if you're working to get that A-achievement. Ayane can definitely be a pain, but she's not totally impossible to beat. I take it someone with a C or lower just defeated you with her?Quote:
