The backlash for the Rev specs are amusing. Last time I checked, the "leader" PS2 was significantly less powerful than the Xbox and GC. The Atari 2600 was inferior to most of its competitors, and was still #1. Hell, the Master System was technologically superior to the NES.

Also, for all the specs, the 360 doesn't look all that much better than current games...but lets not have that argument all over again. :D

The problem I see with the Rev is most third parties aren't going to go for it.
Western devs like multiplatform mostly, so that's out.
Eastern devs found supporting GC a losing proposition.
Small devs will just stick with PS2 for cheapness, since
their games will still play on the all mighty PS3.
(companies like Nippon Ichi can't risk losing their market share.)

I can see it getting a few token games but that's it.

PS2 was also the first established system and had the most third party support. Since it was first along and well established people would pick up multi-plat games for that, and were well satisfied.

PS2 could still hang with Xbox, though. If these specs are true the Rev cant even hold the PS3's jockstrap.

IBTN. The developers of games like Gun and King Kong should be embarrassed at how their games on 360 look. It's indicative of their laziness and willingness to try to cash in on a system launch than it is on the 360's power.

Last time I checked, the PS2 hardware was significantly more powerful than the Dreamcast when it launched, and hence was the market leader in technology at one point.

It's definitely a risk. But the kiddy look and reputation really hurt the Cube, and the Rev shouldn't have that problem. The Cube was the #2 console this generation worldwide, and the new look and low price should help the Rev sell Stateside. If the Rev sells strongly, developers will want to make games for it.

Developers can't easily multiplatform onto the GBA but they manage to support it because the gamers are there, and the margins should be much larger than on GBA. I suspect many developers will follow the DS route - games that play like regular PS2/Cube games, with a mini-game that uses the remote in some way. The large developers already have lots of code to start with. A Spiderman, Burnout, or Madden game can use GC or PS2 code as a starting point.

We should find out if the developers are supporting it at E3. A lot of the speculation sounds like PSP vs. DS, and we know how that turned out. The huge backlog of PS2 titles and PS name didn't bring a flood of software. If Nintendo software is there, as it was for the DS, people will buy the console and developers will support it.

Yoshi, how does RE4 on Cube compare to Oblivion and GRAW graphically on a SDTV?
