From that small little blurb I gathered that Mr. Katamari is more put off by the fact that Nintendo brass and media stooges are touting the controller and its "revolutionary" ramifications MORE than they are focusing on software. Mr. Katamari is a software kinda guy, he only cares about games and game development from that side of the fence. He probably feels they should be focusing on creativity from that (software) standpoint.
I'm sure he would feel like developing a game for the revolution would be a hassle because he'd feel pressured to buy into the controller hype instead of just being left alone to make his little sandboxes.
