Thosepictures of people holding controllers and playing together remind me of early videogame boxes

Ever notice later game boxes (Like SNES and beyond) show games, never people playing them?

You shouldn't camp out to buy stuff. But if I were that kind of low I don't think I'd have an issue finding a Wii somewhere day 1.

Pretty much, and far cry on the wii is really damn ugly so far. I still think the wii being this far behind the curve is a huge mistake. But of course as many a nintendo fan has argued the graphics are perfect because nintendo says they are.

I haven't seen anyone say the Wii's graphics are perfect, but I have seen a lot of people say that they don't mind giving up some hardware power for the new controller technology.

That's ture. It reminds me of Xbox 1.5 days where you either hated the Xbox360 based off first gen screens of games not or you gave it a pass and said they will get better.

Since only SMG has been shown as a game staring development on the Wii(Unless it's Mario 128. In which case no game yet been shown that statrted on the Wii) then I'll give the wii a chance. Maybe one or 2 games will match 360 games but I just don't care anymore about the power of the wii.

The E3 trailer for Smash Bros. shows that it's at least more powerful than the GC. If you look at some of those Wii Madden pics and videos that were posted, it's looking like the system isn't all that graphically weak.

Even if the Wii is only as powerful as the Xbox, there's still no reason for Far Cry to be as hideous as it is. The Xbox version looked better. I get the feeling Ubisoft is just phoning in Wii software (look at their racing game that doesn't even support 480p).

Of course they are. Once they said they would have 8 or whatever games at launch I knew it'd be mostly shovelware. Launch games are a license to print money.

I don't doubt that Ubi will rev it up on Wii later but Assassin's Creed these games are not.

awesome. I hope it has all kinds of flash/java plug-ins. Unlike the DS Opera browse that was a piece of turd, it didnt support many plug-ins and was extremely slow.

probably not as bad as you think. Atleast Nintendo is the only console capable of browsing the net.....i'm surprised MS didn't throw internet explorer in the xbox 360.....maybe with the next update?

Most retailers would tell Nintendo to fuck themselves for retail space if they were going to be like that. Maybe Gamestop has an exclusive type of kiosk or something but being the only ones with a demo is HIGHLY unlikely. I just want to say for the first time in my life I will be calling stores around my house to se if they have kiosks for a specific console, and if they do I will drive that distance just to play a fucking demo of whatever.

True. "Kiosk" does not necessarily mean Gamestop/EB will be the only retailer with demos.

Yeah, I love Nintendo as much as any rabid fanboy, but I'm kinda iffy lately on getting a Wii at launch. Zelda's the only thing I *need*, and I can wait on that, seeing as I've yet to finish Wind Waker. Also, I've had some hands-on time with the system now, and I'm less convinced than ever that the whole motion sensor gimmick is a wise choice. I do hope I'm wrong.

My manager just got back from the big yearly EB/Gamestop meeting and got to play botht he PS3 and Wii. His view was that the Wii was a blast to play and that the motion sensing isn't as obtrusive as one might think, while the PS3 was mediocre at best with only 1 game maybe worth playing.

No, the manager won't be in trouble. I expect my manager to say roughly the same thing. Face it, when stores get an allocation just slightly above zero, they're going to push something else. It's a Wii60 Christmas due to supply alone, and there's nothing Sony can do about it. Game stores want money, Sony can't supply the next-gen product, PS3 gets marginalized. Simple.

Really, the next-gen console race is all about next Christmas. This year is just the prelude.

he's a pretty hardcore gamer. He has more games reserved right now for this year than I plan on buying till next spring.

Also how could what I said get him in trouble. He played both the Wii and PS3 and he liked the Wii better. Our store is not going to have any trouble selling the 2 to 3 PS3s we get in, so why should it matter if he tells anyone that he likes the Wii better as off now and to hold off on the PS3 till there are better games?

With the exception of people like us who are on the internets talking about games that haven't come out yet for months before we play them, does anyone really give a damn about how powerful the system is? Is Bob Commongamer going to care if Console X is more powerful than Console Y if the both look good and play fun games?
The PS2 answered that question with a "No, no one really cares" last generation, I think the Wii will answer it the same way this generation.

The PS2 answered that question with a "No, no one really cares" last generation, I think the Wii will answer it the same way this generation.

There is much greater difference between the 360/PS3 and the Wii then there was between the Xbox/GC and the PS2. And yes, I think your average casual gamer is gonna look at Wii kiosks and 360/PS3 kiosks and care that the 360/PS3 games look far better.

A friend of mine went to the Nintendo World Store event yesterday, said the Wii was fun etc etc. Something interesting though, is that they've started building their "Wii wing" of the store. Demo units should be all over the place within 2 weeks.

LOL @ the Kotaku comments. It's almost like "Yeah the graphics suck so it must be about the gameplay", as if they are mutually exclusive and If not A, then B.

Wii sucks, get over it. Use the 250 dollars to buy a Zboz, and if you already have one, Zboz games.

What I want to see isn't GC titles with Wii controls, but PS2 and Xbox titles. It's not hard to port from one last-gen system to another, as Ubisoft is demonstrating with their quicky-port lineup. So many great games out there.

On the flip side, it'd be nice if the Wii and PSP could keep the PS2 kicking hard for a few more years with decent ports.

If it's the same title being shown on the kiosks (eg, Madden or COD3), the graphics will matter. If the games are different (eg, Prime 3 vs. COD3), I don't think it matters so much. As long as it's "different" instead of "less of the same," the Wii should do okay.
