Dry Counties

Yesterday me and an old friend were going to meet up and watch some movies and have a few drinks. He came and picked me up and then we headed to the state line store to get something to drink. He got a $15 of whiskey, a $5 mixer, and $10 of beer. I just got a 12 back of MHL at $7.

Well as we went back, my friend turned off down a backroad, the one he always takes back home. I asked him what he was doing, as you are less likely to see cops if you stay to the highway. Well even before he had time to reply, we got blue lighted. He and another car were setting up a road block, and lucky us, we got to be the first to be stopped.

They searched the car, and found the beer. They asked him to get out and do a Breathalyzer. They asked me to get out and ran my ID on suspicion that I had been smoking pot. Apparently my eyes were dilated or something. They wrote him a ticket for it, which we are going to split, plus a ticket for his inspection sticker being out.

So I have no beer, and I'm going to be out 110 bucks. But what I find really annoying is the guy acted like he was doing us a favor, as he could have written us both tickets for the booze. Do you know what have been a better favor? To HAVE JUST IGNORED THE GOD DAMN BOOZE &(*^#(^!!!! -_-

So yeah, I'm not a happy camper today. I'm probably going to find someone to write about this. Dry counties are bullshit. I'm 22 years old and a fairly hard working college student. I and any self-respecting citizen, should be able to buy a 12 pack of beer, and go back to my/their house and drink it with friends and watch movies. I feel like I have been violated by a bunch of 60 year old soccer mom's idea of morality. I’m going to lose 110 of my money because some old bitch wants to legislate morality.

Dry Counties? I don't think those exist in the north. We can't buy alchohal here on Sundays though, thats lame. Gots to go to Wisconsin on those days.

I've never heard of a dry county before. APlaces here don't sell alcohol on Sundays, but that's it. What the hell, I thought we got rid of Prohibition.

Buy the stuff early, even better have your mom / gf / etc. buy it up with a bunch of groceries. Around here the cops stick pretty much to the highways, so I use backroads all the time, but you said the highways were safer around were you run so try to keep to them.

Prohibition was federal, dry counties are ordinances. They're almost unanimously passed due to the poisonous nature of religious social engineering. The same goes for other vices like a lottery and pornography.

I live in a dry county, but I live in Texas. There's quite a few dry counties around here.

Dry counties. What the hell? How stupid is the rest of the country?

They elected Bush, that should tell you all you need to know.

They elected bush too. They should think about this shit when someone overly Christian runs for office. They really do make morals into laws.

Here's what doesn't make sense to me: as a Christian, shouldn't I control myself without putting laws into place to keep me from sinning? Why do I need a law/ordinance in place to keep me on the straight path? How does preventing someone else from drinking when they want help me share the Good News with my fellow man? And if drinking alcohol is so bad, why did Jesus turn water into wine?

I missed the part in the Bible where Jesus took over the Roman government and setup laws to force everyone follow his teachings, whether they believed in him or not.
