Is this Belkin Router any good?

i'm looking to buy a wireless router that would connect my own personal PC(in my bed room) to my videogame consoles(in the living room). I live in a concrete built house, with the current wireless access point i have the signal drops alot when there is wall between the AP and my wireless laptop....by the time i walk to the living room where my videogames are the signal dissapears.

i see that that Belkin router has 800% wider coverage, does that mean i would get a better signal in the living room eventhough there are 4-5 concrete walls in between?

I wouldn't trust anything Belkin as far as routers go - they used to inject advertisements into webpages you were surfing; if you're looking for a decent wireless router (I still think being in a house made of concrete is going to majorly degrade throughput on it though) look into the WRT54G. People swear by that thing.

I don't like Belkin, I bought a PCI Wifi (g) card and you have to install shitty software before you install the card. So every time I reinstall Windows on that PC I have to remove the card. Such a pain in the arse.

I have a D-Link, strong signal and it has a nice, extensive 192.168.0.1 GUI.

I think that's the one I have. I live in an apartment building and my brother who lives on the floor below me gets rather good signal.

i have a Dlink access point and its great, but i need more coverage, i know concrete walls would weaken the signal, but i want something to reach the living room.

i heard there is a linksys with an antena extender!

btw, the kitchen which is below my room gets a decent signal(concrete floor), but going through multiple walls is a different story.

Why not try and setup a signal repeater/amplifier system or something? It's not the most elegant solution but it might do the trick...

i thought about it, but when i saw the belkin one i though why not just get that instead of having to setup the repeaters with my access point and blah blah blah...

besides, my knowledge in wireless networking is on beginner side.

if i cant find one device that will do the trick for me, i'll get a repeater like you said.

what kind of repeaters do you recommend(link?)? i have a D-Link access point and i would much rather get D-Link repeater...i'm assuming they're easier to setup if they're from the same brand

Do some googling. I can't suggest anything because I've never setup a wireless network before.

I just smashed a POS belkin router into a few million tiny bits. It was constantly rebooting dropping everything off the network in the process.

I don't know if this new "Pre-N" stuff is any good, but I dont trust it.

If you do consider purchasing a wireless router, go with the Linksys WRT54G. I own one and it's been good to me, although I live in a very small apartment, so the wireless signal doesn't have to travel far to my PC and laptop.
