Comic-Con 2005

I am planning to attend Comic-Con this year. I've wanted to the last couple years, but never felt my portfolio was good enough to bother. It's time to bite the bullet and do it though.

Is anyone planning on going? I'm in the process of getting my arrangements set up: flight, registration, board...if others are going we might be able to split a hotel room or something. I'm flying in from Oregon, never having been to San Diego or CA at all. TNLers in the area who (going to comic-con or not) would like to have TNL get together or something are encouraged to post.

Also, anyone who has attended past events, particularly in regards to the portfolio review, that has anything to say or suggest, well...please do.

I'll be there.

Last year I was picked as a contestant for IFC's Ultimate Film Fanatic gameshow deal. Didn't get any questions right and got booed off the stage (such embarrasment), but I made fun of the host, so it was alright. Got a $50 American Express gift card, t-shirt (which im wearing right now), and trivia calendar. Good times.

Does everyone smell bad? Or is this a convention for the creators as opposed to the "enthusiasts"

I've been going every year since 1996, so I'll definitely be there again this year.

I remember that show... everyone told me I should go on, but there were tons of times I didn't know the answers... I just know more than they do, but I'm not anywhere near the level the people on the show (The ones that win anyway). How was the experience (other than getting booed)? I didn't bother watching the 2nd season.

I'm there every year. Usually it's for all four days, but because of work I might not be able to make it for all four.

And I know the guy who sets up EVO, so there should be a few fighting game tourneys with free entry and mediocre prizes.

Rhydant, we should get together and talk about planning something for con, and your $20.

Ahg. I'd want to go but I'm already taking vacation time for Anime Expo the week before that :(

Dammit, I forgot about AX again. Every year I say I'm gonna take a day and go there, but I always forget in the end. Maybe there's still time though....

I went today for Preview Night. I got a shitload of free stuff. Anyone else going over the next 4 days?

I'll be there, black guy wearing a black Nintendo DS hat that says "Touching is Good" on the back is most likely me. Thursday and Friday I have to work in the morning, so won't be there til about 4pm-ish. The weekend I'll be there throughout the day. Stop by Bandai's Gundam War booth, I'll most likely be there.
