I don't mind it. I'm 25% so no one really knows my native heritage unless they ask. And the "you are Indian" legal lineage varies from tribe to drive. For the Onedias (from NY state), it's matriaracle (sp). My grandfatther (100% Onedia) married my grandmonther (German) so according to the books, even though my dad is 50%, he isn't considered an Onedia. If his mother was Onedia, the father can be anything and still be on the books as part of the tribe (and his kids).

The Onedias run a casino (Turning Stone) and because of the matriarch rule, my father doesn't get a cut of the casino takings (it would be something like 10k a month at least iirc). Also, my sister and I would have had our college education paid for. Sucks, so close but so far away,

But the quote was also about "savagery", which the Native Americans fit more than the settlers. Not defending them or anything, just saying that people seem to think Native Americans were all about being one with the land and kumbaya and all that nonsense.

It was actually a great class, I got the chance to look at religions throughout history, what they bring to the table, how they have evolved, and how to look at them.
