Itagaki has said it himself. DOA is not a perfect fighting game. In order to make the perfect fighting game, it has to be boring. Everything has to be balanced out. What he set out to do was to make an entertaining fighting game that everyone can enjoy. In that, he has suceeded many, many times. The game is deep enough so that fighting fans can get into it but easy enough so that casual players or "button mashers" can get just as much satisfaction out of it. Name one other fighting game that can boast that.
Well, okay, thats Mortal Kombat Pre-4. But these days, it's the only game around of it's nature. A lot of you people really need to, and I hate to use thie cliche, I really do, but a lot of you really need to get your heads out of your asses about it.
So Code Cronos comes out first, then DOA4?
If any of my friends were any good at fighters anymore, then I might still give a shit about VF, but they're all weak competition, so I've had way more fun with DOA.
When you consider VF's wretched character design (Akira, Goh, and Lei Fei exluded) and extremely demanding gamepley (it takes robotic timing to do a simple knee attack with Akira) then DOA just seems all that more appealing.
