Which system will you own first? Simple enough. If neither, then don't vote. If you are holding out for Revolution, don't vote.
If you are passing on both, at launch, pick which you see yourself owning first anyway. This is pretty self-explanatory.

Thanks for deleting the post.
When you choose "Attach a Poll" and submit, the add poll dialog is separate. The thread gets posted while the thread creator makes the poll.
I voted for 360, because Halo 3 or Splinter Cell 4 will force me to get the system, and I believe one of those two will come out before the PS3.
Between the two, I'd go with the 360. The lack of a Revolution option really is a flaw with this poll.
Both at launch.
Mostly because I need the newest and fanciest gadgets
the Xbox 360 is coming out earlier, so I guess that'll be the 1st one I get
...
Probably the revolution based on the way things are now.
The question is kind of flawed. Xbox 360 will get more votes because the release date between the Xbox 360 and PS3 could be a good few months apart. Therefore, people buying both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, which I'm sure is the majority, will buy the Xbox 360 first because it's being released sooner.
What are you trying to accomplish by asking this question anyways?
Flames to heat his dinner. Master is hungry.Quote:

The same poll would be relevant if I posted it before the Dreamcast and PS2 launched. A lot of people passed on DC.
The question isn't flawed. What a dumb thing to say. This isn't a "RAH RAH MS!!!!" thread...
I'm probably going to wait for the PS3, and stick with it for a while, then eventually getting a Rev, and then eventually a 360. At least, that's the plan. I've been debating between getting an iPod pretty soon or waiting for a 360, with the favor tipping towards the iPod, but in all likelihood I will fold under my own weakness for the new hotness and get a 360 this year anyway.
The Chronicle doesn't approve of that! He is determined to make sure I come off as a company man, skewing results in favor of the 360. Please change your results or the question is flawed! OMG!!!
If the 360 gets most of the votes, that doesn't mean a thing. It could still be a heaping pile because most people here are owning both anyway. I was just trying to guage how many peolpe are passing on it in favor of the next Playstation.
I may not get a 360 at launch, but I'll get it first. I have a feeling the ps3 will launch at $400 so I'm going to wait until it gets to $200 to get it. By that time all the bugs should be out and there will be more than 3 games worth playing.
I'll likely be passing on the XBox 360 at launch, but it would be the first next-gen console I buy.Quote:

I think the people who "wait for the next PlayStation" are typically very casual gamers. But either way, there's nothing wrong with the poll, it's just a question.
PS3 unless Halo 3 or Ninja Gaiden 2 comes out before it's release. Gears of War being really good would probably push me over too.
Another difference is, old-school TNL and GG! (and Gamefan Online before that) were much different of an atmosphere than current-day TNL. The hardcore fanboys and people that only play games from a specific corner of the world are almost gone (not that I mind for the most part).Quote:

Xbox 360, but only because it comes out first. I'll be getting all three consoles launch day, so it's hardly surprising.

I'm getting a 360 at launch. No doubts about it.
I'll probably end up getting a PS3 when something worth while actually comes out on it. . and considering that when I buy Kingdom Hearts 2 in 20XX, it will be the first PS2 game I've bought in a year. . well, they'll have to come big.
Much like Sl1p, nothing has really been shown for PS3 that makes me excited yet. I'm not going to buy a machine because it's there (If that was the case I'd own a PSP and NGage right now). Xbox 360 has already shown me two games that look incredible, so I'm excited about it.
Now, Am I going to buy the XBox 360 at launch is a different questions since there is a ton of stuff I want coming out for the current systems that I want around November (Zelda and Dragon Quest come to mind).
And I do think you should include Revolution in this poll, imo. I know it's the odd ball of the new machines, but why not include it?
Console launches usually suck these days. Neither the PS2, XBox, or GameCube had any launch games I wanted. I'm honestly not expecting anything different. I'll wait.
PS3 - whenever MGS4 hits, because I'm not expecting it to be a launch title. The PS and PS2 were where the vast majority of games I was interested in were at these past two generations, so if I get any of the next gen systems, this will be it. Yeah, I'm putting my faith in Sony's "legacy".
XBox 360 - don't really care as of yet. Emulation is what sold me on the first XBox. Who knows, maybe there'll be a game I consider a must-own down the road and I'll change my tune.
We know nothing on Revolution's price, or features, or specs, or games, or release dates, or controllers. All we know are some pretentious fluff interviews that Iwata, Miyamoto and Reggie have given.
There's really nothing to discuss right now. Except the fact that it looks like a cable modem.
It is a two horse race. Nintendo has stated they are OK with third (basically) so I'm going to treat them like it.
And what Diff said. Either way, only fanboys would wait for Rev, and I don't care what they think. This isn't a scientific poll, I'm just curious what people think. If you are waiting for Revolution feel free to post as much.
Good thing Rev is not an option in the poll huh?Quote:

Actually, I would have told you PlayStation because of Squaresoft (exclusive) support, which single-handedly determined that next-gen purchase the moment I caught the news flipping through some gaming mag.Quote:

Both at launch.
I'm going to wait until I see what Sony has to offer. I've barely had my Xbox for more than 9 months, so I'm in no hurry to get a 360.
I'll probably wait a few months after the PS3 arrives, to make a decision on the matter, but I have a feeling I'll buy the PS3 first.
Already got my 360 on reserve, and will get PS3 once that ships too.
I'm not going to be buying the PS3 until, at the earliest, Christmas 2006.Quote:

360 it is, then, I guess.
I was going to wait on 360, but Oblivion is a launch or near launch game (GS lists it at November). I will definitly wait on PS3 because there has never been a Playstation that was 100% worth owning at launch, especially given the price and the probability of malfunction. I can be swayed, but I'm not yet.
I'm probably going to buy a 360. As far as the PS3, I don't believe in myths, so we'll see.
Yep. Nintendo has no interest in discussing the Revolution then neither should we. Ill be happy to discuss it once we see a controller, a lineup of games, full online plans, feature set, and ballpark price figures.Quote:

source? I have been following oblivion prety clsoely and there has been no official announcement of a ps3 port, period. game informer hinted it but never backed it up. Not saying it wont come on ps3, the only non-pc platform mentioned by bethesda has been the 360. (not that it will matter because if you dont buy it for pc, you are buying a lesser version)Quote:

Yeah, but it's coming to 360 well before the PS3 is out. If the Live features are as good as they can be then I see no reason to own the PS3 version anyway.Quote:

tracer, the 360 has suggested they will be able to add official bethesda mods, but no mention of fan made mods yet. Unless they allow the fan made mods, then it will be inferior. I do know that.
Even if they allow fan made mods, a good number of the morrowind modding community are pc fanboys, hence even if they can make 360 mods, most wont because they dont care for consoles. so again tracer, i do quite confidently say that the pc version will be better.
So, the 360 will not launch 6 months prior to a new Sony system only to be completely obliterated when said Sony system launches? That's exactly what is going to happen, and it's exactly what happened to the Dreamcast.Quote:

We'll see. I certainly hope it doesnt happen, after the last few Kuturagi interviews, which only the Kelly Flock NG interview matches for sheer hilarity.
I'll be getting the PS3 at $200 and the Revolution at $100. I'll be skipping the Box 360 unless they actually make it fully backwards compatable, and make more than 3 games I actually want to play on it. I don't like FPS, and I have a PC. The best version of multisystem games dosen't usually matter when they're all made for the leader (PS2) anyway, and I spend too much time on the internet as it is, so Live, and the psuedo friends aspect of it dosen't appeal to me. I prefer the playing with firends at a party type games. Also the paying for using the internet service thing sucks. So once again no Xbox for me.
Jester, you clearly didnt care about Xbox 1, so why does backwards compatibility matter?
Well becuase they be cheap. I didn't like Fable on the Xbox. However $20 FAble would make me happy.
To finally get the three games I wanted, Ninja gaiden, Panzer Dragon Orta, and Gunvalkyrie. The latter two being flops, so I'm guessing they won't make the Top seller requirements.Quote:

It all depends on cost and quality of games at launch. I may hold off till Xmas to get one. There is no way in hell I'm buying a PS3 at launch unless the games actualy look like the Killzone 2 trailer, and not trailer #2, cause thats just asking for way too much.
Good enough I suppose. New games I like in a quantity greater than 3 would meet the other prerequisite for purchase. Xbox exclusives that is.Quote:

As I get older, I care less and less about video games. That said, I'll get the 360 for Halo 3, backward compatability, and the other media features.
That's definately not exactly what happened to the Dreamcast, considering it launched over a year before PS2 in Japan and America.Quote:

I will probably buy the Revolution and PS3. So I voted for PS3. Good luck to the Xbox360, though.
My friend and I are both going to head to X store in exactly 2 years after the PS3's release to each purchase one. I'm just trying to save 2 to 300 bucks, he's just waiting for the right modding tools to come out. ;D
As most have said, Xbox 360 since it comes out sooner... the way I see it, I normally don't get systems at launch (heck, last time I did was Sega Cd...), but I am really looking forward to every game being in HD and DD5.1... gotta get use out of my new equipment (within the last year), so it's a worthy purchase for me. I also am looking forward to the new additions to live (except micro transactions). There are already plenty of games to get me excited too, despite an initial lackluster show on MTV (and even the first few days of E3, really). That still will give me at least a year to save up for PS3, which I probably won't even get at launch since I'll already have a 360, and I'll probably buy a standalone HD-DVD player.
slowly but surely i have been getting less and less moist for launches. if i get anything at launch it would be the Revolution. but right now theres nothing from the 3 that makes me generate some serious panty gravy.
Me too. :(Quote:

Gears of War looks promising, but I can't see myself picking up a 360 anytime soon. And God only knows about the Revolution.
Thing is, if you're not someone that cares about HDTV or 5.1, you dont find much of a reason to buy one at launch, or in its first year on the market either.Quote:

Well, I did't say EVERYONE had to get it at launch for the reasons I stated, I just said why I am getting it at launch. Like I said, I never get systems at launch. I usually wait for the first price drop, that way I can get the system cheaper, and will have a library of games available to me for a cheaper price. But this time I think it'll be worth it, since my current games aren't giving me my HD fix (I have only one game in 1080i, and one game in 720p). I've been showing videos from 360 games to my friends though, and they are all getting excited too because it looks like there will be a lot of great games, and some good multiplayer going.Quote:

(which will be better on the pc, just thought id throw that out there)
I'm getting Xbox 360 first.
The Xbox had more games I enjoyed than the PS2 (read: Western made games that don't insult my intelligence). Hopefully, the same remains true for the next generation.
I will for sure be picking up both at some point or another. 360 will be first since it will be around Xmas + Live = me getting it. PS3 will have to wait cause A) I'm not sure I want to spend what it is rumored to cost and B) Wait to see if the system is shoddy like launch PS and PS2's.
I feel like my intelligence is insulted when people say things like this.Quote:

Well, considering what their text on the front page says, and that IGN and Gamespot both say it's coming to PS3, unless when they say "consoles" they mean the Revolution, I think it's a pretty safe bet that it's coming to PS3. I really don't care either way, as I'm likely getting it for PC anyway, I'm just sayin'.
Is that what Nintendo fans call Miyamoto? :chick:Quote:

This whole thread is an insult to out intelligence. It might as well be 360 propaganda. It's worded in the only possible way that the 360 would come out on top, and it was posted by a MS employee.Quote:

Theres no option for "I Dont Know Yet"?
I need to see more games that I really want to play, and solid release dates on when they are coming out before I make the leap on a system purchase. So, I guess I'm no fanboy.I've never gone out and just blindly bought a system on the first day of its release no matter what company it is,and probably never will.
EDIT: And I actually decided to read page 1 of this thread just now,and I'm still not sure which one I may purchase first or whatever.Kind of funny because I already have friends who are saving up for X360's right now and these same friends cant even name 2 games they want to play on the thing.Quote:

I plan on getting everything on launch.
I'm excited about the Xbox 360 because the Xbox has been by far my favorite this generation.
I'm excited about Revolution because I'm curious about what the hell it's going to be like...
And I'm curious about the Ps3 because all of the insane hype Sony has been throwing at us the past few months. I only hope turns out a little more 'honest' than it did with the Ps2.
