Heh, actually I have that book. I should have taken some notes! Well I will have a machete and a katana for backup. You know, for cool points.Quote:

Goodie! I actually own a machete, but wouldn't a sledgehammer be more durable? I bet with a sledgehammer you could smash at least a few 1000 zombie skulls, whereas the machete gets dull after a few 100!
Wrong and wrong. The wooden handle of the sledgehammer would break because it takes far more blunt force trauma to take down a zombie, and once the handle is broken you're pretty much screwed. The machete (even dull) can be swung in a downward arch and have significant penetration into the cranium, meaning one less zombie. It can be sharpened with even the crudest of instruments to maintain maximum killing efficiency.
So, the sledge 'may' get a 1000 kills before it breaks, but at that point its useless. The machete, on the other hand, may over its lifetime manage 2 or even 3000 kills before it becomes irrepairably damaged. Besides, the machete has other uses outside of combat. The sledgehammer? Not so much.
EDIT: It's all in the handbook people.
God damn is Thriller awesome.

My favorite part of the handbook was actually the historical accounts. It claimed the Lost Colony in Carolina was a zombie outbreak. That's awesome.
If you decide to take someone along through the wasteland, could I possibly join you? You sound like the prototype for a zombie apocalypse leader.Quote:

Pps. Tried to get the book, but amazon acted up on me, its like faith didn't want me to own this book... but why?
ppps. My sledgehammer's shaft is made out of a lightweight alloy, but I do get your point and agree.
pppps. Ever been on a farm? You know those handheld devices they use to destroy the brains on pigs? They shoot a sharp bolt into the pig's brain causing instant death. I wonder if these things come in mechanical form?
Yeah, I got that point. I suppose once you get settled in somewhere safe you could herd a flock of zombies into an enclosed area and test weapons on them.Quote:

Update: I purchased the book as ebook for $ 9.99. This was probably my first mistake actually... Adobe Reader doesn't allow printing! Not much need of an ebook once the apocalypse strikes! Hmmm, unless I memorize everything...
First lesson rookie; no place is safe, only safer.Quote:
