Mario 128 on Revolution...

After its surprising and unfortunate absence in the GameCube's lineup at E3 2005, it was all but obvious: "Super Mario 128," long thought and intended to be the GameCube's next big Mario adventure, will never see the light of day... not on the GameCube, anyway.
This confirmation comes from an interview with tech website Wired News, in which Nintendo creative mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto officially stated that the next, big Mario platforming game will not be coming to the GameCube, but has been pushed to the Revolution.
When asked about a reason for the decision, Miyamoto said, "We think we want [Mario 128] on the Revolution... the Mario team can't create too many games at the same time, so they're concentrating on the Revolution." And also according to the interview, Miyamoto and Nintendo are still waiting for the "fundamental idea that's going to drive the next 3-D Mario game."
It would not be at all surprising, of course, if that "fundamental idea" ended up being something that will take full advantage of the Revolution's still-unknown, true "revolutionary" feature, long speculated (and pretty much confirmed at E3) to have something to do with the console's controller.
In fact, when asked about the Revolution's controllers, Miyamoto told Wired News, "Because the user interface is going to drive the Revolution software design, that's what's going to make our software stand out. Nobody else is going to be able to do what we do with next-generation game software. So, I can't reveal anything. It's under wraps because it's the big gun."
It's a bit disappointing, then, that Mario's last hurrah on the GameCube will presumably be a sports title like Super Mario Strikers or a niche title like DDR Mario Mix. The upshot of this, however, is that this may mean that "Mario 128," or whatever the new (and now next-gen) Mario game ends up being called, will be ready for the Revolution's launch... which would be a very good thing, considering a new Mario game is exactly what the GameCube's launch lacked (and the console suffered considerably for that mistake, too, at least in its first year).
But in any case, the coming of a next-gen Mario game is exciting in and of itself, so I'll leave it at that. We here at GAF will, of course, keep you informed of any and all developments that arise concerning this long-awaited title.
dunno if this has been posted before since i was outta town for a long time. it's a repost mod you can delete it.
anyways, i'm so glad that Ninty decided that Mario 128 goes to the revolution, if it'sa launch title then this would make the revolution fly off the shelves like the good ol' days! :)
