GEARS of WAR

You get Insane even if you beat it on Casual. Okay, cool, I'll skip Hardcore and jump into Insane.

I didn't know casual unlocked it since I never played casual. ;)

What about the achievements Opaque? THE ACHIEVEMENTS.

I got Gears this past Wednesday and started directly on Hardcore mode, fearing that Casual mode would be much too easy. Reaming enemies with the Chainsaw Bayonet is sweet. Never, ever drop the Lancer even if it's empty.

The gameplay reminds me of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, especially with the importance of cover and giving orders to your team.

Spamming Troika fire on the enemies and consequently littering the nearby area with mangled Locust corpses makes for good times. At least dead enemies do not vanish ala Doom 3.

QFT. I don't miss the ability to jump. The dive maneuvers make up for the lack of it. Jumping is not necessary or even welcome for a Gears of War 2 either. Let Epic add some new weapons, but keep the control the same. Call of Duty 3 didn't really tamper with CoD2's formula controlwise, and that's a good thing.

FEAR is another good title, even if GOW shames it graphically. Sure, there may be little variety in enemy soldiers- but this is supposed to be a "Replica" army. Having some of Armacham Tech's mechanical creations sicked upon you keeps things interesting, and the slow-mo can be fun to use sometimes- especially for getting in close to enemies with the shotgun.

We already discussed how I got the casual achievement for beating it on hardcore.

I played through Casual first, and I'm a better GoW player than most of you here (this includes Opaque). So, perhaps you all need to check yourself before you wiggidy-wreck yourself?

Let the fronting be rampant.

Dipstick and I finished insane last night. Lots of frustrating moments, but very fun overall.

I just shot soda all over my keyboard that was so funny.

I got the game in the mail today (day before official aussie release lol), HOLY FUCK. It was too tempting to hold out until the weekend for co-op.

I know everyone is all OMG the grafx, but really, what the fuck. This game looks better than anything in stills, and it runs like fucking butter. The control system is amazing too. The only very minor gripes I have are the load times between my many, many deaths, and the guns don't feel as brutal as they look.

I'm getting my innernets upgraded soon, so hopefully I can join the fun of multiplayer with you chaps, and see who really has the darkest penis.
