This angers me, but I really enjoyed Fable a lot so I may actually pick this up like a sucker.
I don't think there is anything they can do with this "Lost Chapters" that could make it the game the first one should have been. There is simply no way they could have fixed everything.
I think Fable is probably the best description of a game that wasted its potential. There was SOO much to like about this game and they squandered every opportunity and made a game that should have been amazing simply decent.
Please elaborate on specific instances.
Peter Molyneaux is a brilliant person who is always thinking about games about 5 years before theyre possible.
Fable 2 will probably be great, but in the meantime, we have Lost Chapters.
Ill get this. I didnt spend time with Fable because of all the hatorade. Even though a lot of people thought it was fun.
The hatorade from me was mostly because of all that blocked off shit. Oh well.
I'll snatch it up.
The game was fun, there is no doubt about that. It just seems like they came up short in all the little shit. The fishing is a perfect example. They could have made that enjoyable instead of just button mashing. Very linear paths through the whole game takes the adventure out of it. There was never a sense of what might be beyond the next area because you knew you would get there just by following the only path available to you.
These are just a couple of endless examples of the problems with the game. It is still worth a 1 time play through though. I guess it just bums me out because it could have been so great. Oh well, I'll keep my eye on Fable 2 and see how that turns out.
At $20, I'll definitely pick it up. Maybe I'll spend more time with Fable over the coming weeks to prepare myself for this.

Is it still xbox exclusive or are they making a PC version too?
PC version is still coming.
Which is the version I'll get though I doubt it'll cost 20 bucks..at least not right away anyways. I liked the xbox version from the little I played of it.. the pc version will certainly look better and I'm sure the mouse/keyboard control will be just fine.Quote:

Once the Live aspect was cut, so was my interest in this game... I saw my friends play, and it seemed "ok" but nothing special. Seems like this will help, but it's still not what the game should have been. If they go the platinum hits, that's a good idea, kind of like VF4: Evolution. Shame they couldn't just make it a Live download for those who already bought it.
Why? I played it a year ago and enjoyed it a lot. Like I give a shit about waiting 1 1/2 years for an update. Thats stupid.Quote:

Time to sell my original Fable and either use the money to pay for this or put it toward Killer 7.

I actually played Fable for the first time this weekend and was dissapointed, perhaps its just after playing WOW that I dont know if I can go back to a console RPG much less this game.
The graphics are ugly which all consoles games are for the most part when you are used to playing on a high end pc, the game as mentioned is on rails which again after wow is horrible.
I did like the art style and the voice acting but not something I will play though to the end.

Avoid. Unless your xbox is hd modded, in which case the load times are (barely) tolerable.
Otherwise, you load between every memory-size-limited postage stamp sized area, and the load times suck.
It's also really easy and the story is mediocre.
...and the final boss battle is shit.
for the regular game, this gmae finally has a dragon, always wondered why they mentioned him in themonster book and never showed one, particularly after i killed the krakenQuote:

All I know about Fable is this: if I had worked on the game I would be pissed at the way it ended up. The game just feels like a giant misappropiation of developer resources.

If the creator/company says a game is one thing, and it turns out to be another, it's fine to be disappointing. If someone made a game and they called it "the best fighter ever" and it was a turn based strategy game (I know, it's exagerated an example but bear with me), that means that they hyped it incorrectly. This can lead to disappointment and there's nothing wrong with it. Now, if it was people on the internet and magazines saying one thing, and the company saying another, then that's fine, you should have listened to the company/creator. In short, listen to the creator/makers, if they lie, be pissed.Quote:

I dont think anyone can seriously detach themselves from all that hype and end up being happy with it. The game media let us down with this one, the last time I remember them getting something so wrong was Trespasser (though Fable is much better than Trespasser).Quote:

Im all for going in with reasonable expectations but there's a limit.

$20 is perfect.
Makes me glad I trade my copy original copy of Fable for a sealed cube version of RE2 a few months back.

Here is a bit shit-load of text on Tresspasser, obtained via a Google search for "Tresspasser game" -

I didn't follow any hype about this game at all, NONE! I did however have the idea that this would be a really good action RPG/adventure game and it wasn't. It wasn't horrible but it sure as fuck wasn't really good either.Quote:

and secondly, those of you that felt dissapointed should be used to it by now(because if you beleived the hype for this, you MUST have boughten into hype for other games as well)...let alone there have been far worse games than fable to come out of the vidoegame industry.
i guess i'm just sick of the people that bash this based on the fact that it wasnt what molyneux(sp?) promised...as if every other developer out there brings every single thing they said about their title to it's retail outing.
so; to wrap this up...fuck it, i'll pick it up. gives me more to do within that world(more houses to "renovate" of people, and more money to make). if you dont want it,that's fine. but dont act as if you're some naive schoolgirl that put all of your trust into this(molyneux), only to be raped later in an alley without the promise of candy(missing game content); it makes the rest of us(gamers) look like complete hypocritical asses.
actually its when i see this level of hype is exaclty when i detatch from the hype, i have been around gaming long enough to know when they start avalanching a game, avoid forming any preconceptions because this kind of blitz is pure marketing. its like the ps3's massive technical superiorty over the 360. do you buy it? They are selling it hard. it wont be true, and if you are expecting it, you will be dissapointed. if you have been gaming this long, you should be able to smell a rat by now. I went in expecting a western rpg, and thats what i got.Quote:

I can understand publishers hyping shit, thats their job, but we shouldnt be getting the same hype from the sites.Quote:

maybe, you have been gaming as long as i have, nearly, you have to eb wary of the gaming media by now, they do this a lot. besides, we knew stuff was getting cut here well before the game was released, check the official thread, i think a lot of people ignored when the news got out that stuff was cut. the anger is out there, if you think we had "hatorade" here, check the elderscrolls forums, fable is flamebait over there. like i said, i have been burned so many times, the hype washed over me.Quote:

Heres my take on Fable.
I love it and it's a great game.
Is it anything like Molyneux said it would be? Of course not. That still doesn't stop it from being great just how it is. Do I wish it was more like his original vision? Of course, but that still doesn't stop me from enjoying it as the great action-rpg that it is.
The combat is fun, the story is at least interesting and the custom user's experience in the game is hilarity waiting to happen. I'll be picking up Lost Chapters for XBOX because I'm a whore.
lol ,thats funny that you think I really care. Honestly, dude, I dont give a shit - mostly because of this line:Quote:

I had a group of friends that all lived together and played Fable.... they did not get hyped from the internet, and they ALL thought it wasn't very good. They got sick of it really fast and complained about a lot of differest aspects of it. The game itself made them do it, not the internet or magazines.Quote:

Stealing shit ruled though.

I don't care if it wasn't what they said it would be, what it is just isn't very good.

I shouldnt say it doesnt play because it does but the screen is all fucked up and distorted. Maybe its the new HDTV and I cant change the games options or something....I dunno. Damnit I really wanted to get into my game again too. :(
Did you change your Dashboard to support HD, and did you get the Hi-Def AV pack?
So far:
Beautiful game, they redid a lot of the textures so that everything looks great in high-res, it's even damn nice with a bunch of options turned down. New quests are available all over the place, mostly small stuff so far that adds nice details. A whole string of objectives was about people getting high off mushrooms, providing my favorite line so far that was basically, "She was amazingly beautiful, but the trees were also running around on little chocolate legs, you know?" All sorts of new expressions have been added, like the Russian kick dance and the flamenco.
For the most part it's still the same game it was on Xbox, so if you hated it there you won't change your mind here. It even still has the glitch of listing the initial three quests that you can't accept which then disappear by the time you're done killing the wasp queen. No idea if they pop back up later on and can actually be completed in this version, but if not that's a really pathetic oversight.
The combat is sort of screwed up as the mouse really doesn't work so hot with rolling and lock-on is just better off not used unless you're fighting bosses. Not a huge deal once I got used to it but it feels clumsier then it did with a gamepad. Which, you know, wouldn't be a problem except that THE GAME DOESN'T SUPPORT GAMEPADS! How in god's fucking name does a title initially released on consoles ship on PC with zero gamepad support?! Stupid stupid stupid. I can't believe they went to the trouble of removing that for no reason that I can think of.
So, uh, yeah. As someone that liked it on Xbox I'm enjoying myself with the PC version, but I really have to wonder what they've been doing with their time considering what still needs to be worked on.
Sounds good ...Quote:

Yeah, the game simply screams console port. It's really quite annoying that they left the interface so clunky.
But I'm having a lot of fun with it. I did hear thought that there's actually not very much new content, which is kinda disappointing. I guess we'll see. I'm really enjoying the game on my first time through.
Just beat it. The endgame stuff is way better this time around, most of the new material is an added chunk of story quests that finishes off the game with a much better leadup and finale. The final boss is still pretty easy and I imagine it'll be even more so when a controller can be used so that dodging becomes effective again. They give a whole bunch of background lore regarding the world, a lot of new tattoos (including a couple full body sets that look a hundred times better then any of the ones offered before), a new set of armor, some awesome looking helms, new weapons (though none of them are particularly useful), and a cool little bonus for the evil ending. They really added a ton of great touches for the evil playthrough of TLC and made life a pain in the ass for the good guys.
On the bad side they totally nerfed the Sword of Aeons (and it now also has a good counterpart for those of you that prefer the light) and it drops from being the best weapon in the game - which makes sense seeing as how it's the sword of legend and all - to being about fourth or so best. Now the best weapon in the game is the Soul Reav- I mean, Solus Longsword, which can be purchased in a shop. What sense does that make?
I had a screenshot of the awesome Pimp Hat you can now get but Fable does its own special thing with the print screen key and I have no idea where it saves screenshots (if they're even accessible out of game). Oh well, whatever.
thats good to hear, the x-box port hit on october right? i will definitly get it with a controller.
