I'd like to have a smallish indie clothing label and possibly run my own boutique/galley. Preferably not in the town I'm in now, but I'll deal.

I think what he is saying, is stop doing stupid shit like getting every dvd that comes out new, and ever video game that comes out new, and getting steroes new. You can save a shit load of money if you shop around, and wait.Quote:

Minus a decent house gets you to $2550. Minus a car payment $2200. Minus car insurance $2100. Minus bills, groceries, gas, etc... $1300.
[edit] For me I have rent, bills, cell phone (we have no land line), MMOs, and internet hosting that I pay for monthly (or annually). Comes to an average total of $479 per month, $70 of which is luxury (MMOs and hosting).
I'm in school, so I know all about that. :lol:Quote:

I dont really have much of a plan.
But I do know that some major stuff has got to change, or I'll end up jumping of a bridge. I just moved out of my mom's house, so thats a start.
I would like to finish college with a degree (or a certificate or something) in applied/graphic design, but that urge gets weaker and weaker each semester.
I'm doing the "Starving Artist" thing right now.
I'm sort of in a band (we haven't played since March, hence the "sort of"), and was let go of a jazz group I sang in for a totally BS reason. (which is all for the better, since they were only adequate) So I'm writing and getting some arrangements together to do my own jazz group, under my own terms and with a lot more creative freedom.
Work part-time for a Security company. Gives me some free time to pursue music, which is the only reason I'm doing this. I never thought that $100,000 and four years of college would put me in that position, but I was so swamped right as I was leaving, that I had no plan. Now I tell all my friends or others that are in school to do so. It makes life so much easier.
I also get other gigs, mostly through my former professors at college. Also I am a cantor at a church nearby, which brings in some ends, as well as helps keep my vocal chops in order.
I am trying to get my act together and go back for my masters in Music, probably in vocal performance. The whole purpose is to be able to teach, at the collegiate level. No HS or under. This is moreso of a back-up plan to my ultimate goals.
My ultimate goals are to be successful in the music industry. Primarily as a singer, whether it be in Jazz, R&B, Pop/Rock, Blues, or even Classical or Opera. I do sing in all those styles, and enjoy them almost equally. I'll use one to get my foot in the door, and then try to tackle each one after the other. (or so the plan goes) Also as a composer, which I love almost as much as performing. I always dreamed of doing a film score, a broadway musical (which I'm in the midst of writing) and even doing a video game soundtrack.
Then, once I've been established in the world, and I'm getting up in years, I'd take up a university job teaching my theories on music performance and such. By then, I'd of course want to have the typical: wife, three kids (two boys and a girl), nice home. I'm modest, I don't need a lot.
I will become Batman in the future.
75% of the people in this thread want to become rock stars.
everyone wants to be a rockstar. if your goal is "rockstar" you can go ahead and shoot yourself in the face with a rocket launcher. just make sure you knock me and josh off first.
Not a rockstar for me. My life goals are well in progress. I run two successful small businesses, and am recently the co-owner/founder of another company. The $$ is finally starting to get good...after working my ass off for the past 1.5 years.
