I found yesterday's paper and found this little story

apparently organised crime is buying up stolen debit and credit card info and using it to buy online goods. They then pay average people to ship these goods to forgien countries so that the goods can be sold on the black market. This might explain why I have a $51 bill for someone to call ever nation in the UK .

And they are easy as hell to prevent if the victim has any fucking common sense. People who don't have firewalls and spyware removers deserve what they get. It's like leaving your house's front door open.

Diff is right, and the only way this is going to stop is to levy huge penalties for companies found to have personal information stolen. Until the cost of losing information is more than the cost of protecting it, this is going to continue.
I'm afraid of what would happen if cunning hackers get into the super matrix databases that have every bit of information about you (and yes, they do exist. I've seen them in action).
