I have a (fucking) Linksys Wireless Router. I've many ports to forward, but the damn list is full, and I don't think there's room to expand it! Is this common on all routers and is there a way past this?

If Linksys routers have firewall rules you can use them directly to forward ports.
If you have an older computer around and two nics total I recommend www.smoothwall.org
I have used it for years and have modded it to include Parental Filtration, Anti virus scanning etc.
What in the hell are you doing? There is really no way you should have that list full.
If you have lots of apps and games that use several ports per application, you can fill that list up pretty quick. For instance, BF2 uses 7 port/port ranges by itself.Quote:

NEVER EVER open up ports 135-139 on a Windows machine on the internet, unless you have an infection deathwish. Someone else chime in here if they know a better way.
I've never once had to forward any ports for games. Even programs that suggest it. The only time I ever had to forward ports is for services, such as telnet, ftp, http for a server.
I never have to do it either, but for some reason some people do, and I have no idea why. Same here for services.
i have a router and have never opened ports. this is why for the most part i dontplay anything online and my downloading speeds suck.
Everything you ever wanted to know about port forwarding is right here.Quote:
