Thats nice. I would rather play the original Street Fighter due to nostalgia and the hilarity that ensues from two people attempting to pull off a hadoken. Street Fighter II is still worth playing today (See: Anniversary and the fact that ST is still played today) and I would rather play SF: The Movie due to the broken and Jean Claude style hilarity.

Alpha 3 is so horrible that it extends beyond the game. It stopped the tournament community dead for a good year. Broken games are fun -- Mortal Kombat Trilogy is proof of that, but shitty games are not. And Alpha 3 is shitty.

I like a game if it's fun... "nostalgia" does not make a game "better." I would still play these games too, and Super Turbo IS still great... but I meant Street Fighter II as in just plain old vanilla SFII, not championship, turbo, super, etc. And laughing at SF: The Movie again does not make a game "better." I laugh at SF: The Movie but then after a few minutes I'm bored, while with Alpha 3 I could play it for hours with my friends. I don't give two fucking shits about the tournament community, I care about playing a game and having FUN with my friends.

I find Street Fighter 2 unplayable nowadays, and I wouldn't even touch the original with kidnemo's dick.

Top 3 Capcom fighting games that I've put the most time into are SF3, Alpha 3, and CvS2, probably in that order. I just find them to be a lot of fun, and judging by all the competition I've found for them, other people do, too. Success, Capcom!

Not a huge fan of the vs. series, but I think MvC was my favorite before MvC2 crazied everything up.

I like all the vs. games for their own reasons... they are far from deep, but they provide good goofy fun when just hanging out with friends.

If SF4 even resembles Alpha 3's broken mess, well, there's that game out the window.

In the spirit of this thread, I pulled out and played my collection of SF games (MAME'd the rest) last night. Aside from the original and the Arcade Movie, the worst of the series is still better than most other fighters out there.

I still find it amusing that the original SFII still has better smoother control and gameplay than any KOF game...

I'm still convinced that there's no set move to do that and the game just launches them at random while playing.

SFZ2A is the pinacle of the Alpha series, but SFA3 was new and different enough to make it a fun diversion.

The best thing SFA3 had going for it was its character roster, but ever since CvS2 and MvC2 came out, even that doesn't impress me.

If the PSP version is a major upgrade, gameplay-wise, then I'll probably want it, but they'd better do something about the input commands.
It would be a nightmare pulling off moves that require 3K or 3P on a PSP.

I don't want rosters to be as big as MvC2. I don't want any game to remind me of MvC2 in any way ever again. Third Strike has, what, 20 characters? That's more than enough. SFA3 is excessive, SFA2 was perfect. Unless it's a dream match or some kind of crossover game, I don't see the need for ten million characters.

Everything about A3 felt crappy to me. I didn't like the changes to the gameplay, hated the UI, the colors, and I consider the creation of R. Mika an act of international terrorism.

A3 is stupid and I wish they'd stop polluting new platforms with it.
