I can see people's varying opinions of MGS's gameplay, but I'm kinda surprised that someone actually dislikes the overall plot. I agree some of the BS in between plot happenings is goofy. I've always found the MGS's plots to be very interesting, eventhough they are often far fetched. But, I'm interested in the politics of nuclear weapons and military.
My List
---------
Gran Turismo (I loved #1 though)
Collect-a-thon Platformers (R&C, J&D, any N64 platformer besides Mario)
Pokemon (The overall idea and presentation, I like but get bored quickly)
JRPG's (FF7 was the first and only, I loved every minute of it but it ruined the genre for me)
I consider myself a huge Metal Gear/Hideo Kojima fan, although I can understand why people would dislike the series. I usually play them Rambo-style on each of my first playthrough before going for the Big Boss rank.
Speaking of stealth-based games, I never understood the appeal behind the Syphon Filter series. The really poor controls and the fact that you can die easily always turned me off. Haven't tried the fourth game yet though.
Also, the Spider-Man 2 Movie game (although, not really a series) received alot of praise, but I found the game to be a rather mediocre GTA-clone.
Fighting games
MGS
Splinter Cell
Tony Hawk
Dynasty Warriors
a lot of others
Resident Evil
Tekken
Gran Turismo
Tom Clancy Games
My BF has Guild Wars, and it looks like it runs off the same engine as WoW (which he also has). I guess I could make a character on his WoW and give it a spin. We shall see. Guild Wars has really good music, so good that I would buy the OST. EQ2 music sucks.Quote:

And you turn to the Metal Gear Solid series to quench this thirst?Quote:

Please, go browse the pertinent sections at Borders, asap.
Fighting games (Don't have the attention span to memorize move lists like that. I enjoy Soul Calibur though)
Castlevania (to be fair, I have not given them a fair chance. I'm not big into platformers, period)
Most FPSs (they frustrate me, simple enough. Love the physics and some aspects, but most of them don't hold my interest)
