Alright, I'm running Optimum Online through a Linksys Wireless G Router. For the past few days, occasionally the entire thing will freeze up and disconnect, both wireless and wired connections just get booted off, and the connection is popped back on almost immediately. Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on?
Most likely interference from cordless phones, microwaves, any other device that uses 2.4GHz. Try turning off the wireless on the router see if your wired connections stay up.
The only thing that bugs me is that this has never happened before. No wireless or radiation...ful devices are running when the connection kicks. I also notice sometimes that the connection light on the modem itself starts blinking, too.

Check the website of your broadband provider and see if anything is up with the network. From time to time here Road Runner will act funky for a few days after upgrading or doing maintenance.
You might try to update the firmware in your router too, but I doubt that's the problem.
Are you running your router firmware with any modifications to the default settings? I just recently had all the comps (4) in my house on static IP's, with ports opened for various programs, and all of a sudden it shat all over me, reducing my DL speed to 120 kbps (down from about 5200 from tests I'd previously done). I went back to all my comps, set the static IP's, gateways (always the same), and DNS's, then set all my port forwarding up again, and it worked. Have you done any port forwarding or static IP's?

Recently I had the brilliant idea of turning off all the proprietary DLink enhancements that force the router to be on channel 6 and that my other wireless devices don't take advantage of anyway and let the router auto-pick the channel with the least interference and lo and behold, haven't had a problem since. I imagine most of their routers were on channel 6 also, since it appears to be the default on most.
This post will have been a waste of time if that's not your problem, but try it anyway. Turn the wireless off for a while and see if it reboots. If it doesn't then try switching channels and getting away from the interference.
I'd suggest running from the wired source for a day or 2 and see if it drops. If it does, then you need to contact your provider.
Oh, I know the phones interfere with it already. They just boot my brother's wireless computer off, though, not the wired. I'll give that a shot, though.
I've had the exact same problem as you with Linksys now for a year. I've tried everything, even what Myzoko mentioned, and have never been able to fix it. Linksys is absolutely no help, either, they have the worst customer service I've ever dealt with.
