Hopefully Apple store Osaka will get them in before I head back, that way I can try one out. I'm curious, but I kind of wish there was a Bluetooth version as well. I also don't like how the side buttons are only one button instead of two.
I heard these mice kinda suck (although the idea of a scroll ball as opposed to a wheel is kind of interesting.) The sensors in the ball pushing down are really soft, and the left/right top mouse buttons are kinda fucked due to the way the mouse works, and the side buttons really need to get jammed in to register the click.
I'm at the Osaka Apple store right now, using the mouse. A lot of the negatives I've heard about it don't really seem so bad.
First, however, you do need to lift your left finger off of the mouse slightly for the right click to register. Not a big deal for me, but some people will bitch. Middle click is effortless.
The scroll ball is far, far nicer to use than I thought it was going to be. It looked to be way too small, but it isn't. As well, the side buttons do take a bit of effort - you either have to get used to using them without moving your hand, or you have to move your hand slightly to get to it. Using it to bring up Expose at first is a bit of a trick. Even now, I try to bring it up, and it goes right back away. The thing is, pusing doesn't take near the effort people are saying it does, yet at the same time it takes enough for it to be a bit of a trick at first. Also, you only need to push one side button, not both at a time like some people made it sound.
I'm not impressed with the side buttons so far, but the scroll ball, man... it's like butter. I'm seriously going to consider getting one of these when I get back.
