I knew my days were numbered with MTV, when they brought out the show Remote Control. It had it's funny moments, with Adam Sandler doing his skits and such. But I watched MTV for videos, not bullshit that looked like it belonged on Univision.

Oh, and VH1 Classic owns anything MYV ever did. The Alternative and Metal Mania are constants on my TV.

It was called "Alternative Nation." At least that's what I remember. Also, Sunday nights had 120 Minutes, which was the longest running show on MTV, and then one week, with no notice, it went to MTV2... and now it's gone :(

I have a vhs tape of 120 Minutes from 1992. Pretty interesting to revisit. I watched it a few weeks ago. The early 90's sucked a lot more than most people remember I think. Though it does have a few good things on it. "The Alternative" on VH1 Classic is like old, old 120 minutes and is always enjoyable. Before 120 Minutes, it was called Post-Modern Mtv and did not last 2 hours.

That vhs tape goes well with my Night Flight vhs tape from 89 or so with U2 videos...

I started watching Mtv in 82 or 83. The videos that seemed to be in the rotation the most were Human League's "Don't You Want Me", Roxy Music's "Avalon", Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran", Kajagoogoo's "Shy To Shy", Men Without Hat's "Safety Dance", Men At Work's "Who Can It Be Now?", After The Fire's "Der Kommissar", The Tubes "She's A Beauty", J. Geils Band's "Centerfold", The Clash's "Rock The Casbah", Toto's "Africa", Fleetwood Mac's "Gypsy", Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' "You Got Lucky", and then all the videos from Michael Jackson's Thriller album. I'm an old fogey (32).

The first album I bought was Phil Collins' Face Value, but that was because of Miami Vice and "In the Air Tonight" being used in its premiere during the drive to the drug bust... Ummm, yeah.

Truth be told, I think the Disney channel shows more videos than Mtv does now. They show about one during every commercial break. I imagine that adds up in a 24 hour period.

The Disney Channel is a disgrace. Walt is rolling in his grave right now. Poor bastard.
