I'm in the middle of deciding what I will and won't have money for this fall, and I think I've widdled my list down pretty well. Here's what I'm planning on preordering from EB tomorrow:
PC
Quake 4 - Played it at QuakeCon...wish I were playing it right now. Like a beefed up version of Quake 3 for multiplayer, and the single player vids I've seen over at gametrailers look pretty hot too.
Age of Empires 3 - Huge spread on this in this month's Computer Gaming World. This one takes place in the "new world" between 8 different countries. You can ally with native americans, and beef up your home city in whichever country you come from, allowing them to send you different materials. You build something like a "deck" for your home city a la Magic: The Gathering, and choose different cards based on who you're playing. The mag likened it to a RPGRTS.
Battlefield 2: Special Forces - I'm so incredibly addicted to Battlefield 2 that getting the expansion for it is obvious, I think. Night levels (including nightvision), more weapons, more maps, etc. Zip lines and grappling hooks are gonna be great.
Xbox
Burnout Revenge - This is assuming, of course, that the game isn't announced for an immediate release for Xbox 360. Takedown was the first game in a loooooooooonnnnnng time that I actually played through 99%. That other 1% was signature crashes that I don't feel like getting...
PSP
Burnout Legends - I, like a lot of people, never played Burnout 1 & 2. I like the idea of playing through the maps from those with the Takedown gameplay, and I especially like the idea of having a good racer wherever I go.
Madden '06 - Yeah, I didn't get it for Xbox or PS2. Football on the go is gonna be great, and infrastructure mode makes it that much better. I can't say the voice support in Live was ever all that great on NFL 2k5, so I'm definitely not gonna miss it here.
Xbox 360
Perfect Dark Zero - Yeah, the graphics we've seen so far have been fugly, but I've got a feeling this is gonna be a great game. Microsoft is certainly putting their weight behind it for the launch, so hopefully it's every bit as good now as Halo was when it launched with the original Xbox.
Madden '06 - Two versions of Madden in the same year?! Yeah. I want football on the go, but I can't pass up the prettiness that'll be Madden on 360. I also want to be able to play the game with friends whenever they come over, so there's that excuse too...
I might end up with another 360 game, it just depends on my budget. Games that I'll beg to receive at Xmas will be: Kameo (360), NBA Live 06 or NBA 2k6 (360), Need for Speed: Most Wanted (360), NBA Live 06 (PSP), F.E.A.R. (PC), Call of Duty 2 (PC or 360), and NHL 2k6 (360).
Warning: this list is subject to change at anytime. :p
