Recently I purchased a Wonderswan set, and once it arrived I discovered it was the older B+W unit.
Here is the problem: the auction title stated "Wonderswan Color* GUNPEY BOXSET * JP JPN ~RARE~".
In the description it was listed as "Format: Mono", I thought this meant it had a single audio speaker.
The seller is arguing that Mono means B+W in the UK.
Regardless, shouldn't I be entitled to make a refund claim with ebay or Paypal since the title stated "Wonderswan Color"?
He misrepresented the product. Complain to Visa.
Mono does not mean black and white in the UK any more than it does in the US.
Mono can mean monochrome in some contexts, but monochrome displays are so outdated that I don't think you could consider it common terminology.
Any time I see the word mono used in the context of electronics, it means monaural (single-channel) audio.
Color, on the other hand, has a pretty clear meaning, although maybe the lack of a 'u' had him confused.
In the UK, if mono means anything, it means monaural, as opposed to stereo or surround sound etc. It's an abbreviation anyway, so it's inherently unclear. "Color" is not an abbreviation and is very clear. A Wonderswan Color should have a "color" screen.
And is the "Format" tag really for the screen format? I reckon it's for region or something.

My primary concern was whether "Mono" is a legit term for B+W in the UK.
Looks like I'll go ahead with a claim against the seller.
Unfortunately I've already had two claims with Paypal this calander year, and I think that's the max. So I'll have to look into what ebay will do, or whether my debit card has any fraud protection for this sort of thing.
If the auction stated "Wonderswan Color" then I don't see him having any case.
PayPal has a limit on claims?! News to me considering Ive been using paypal for 5 years and made a couple of complaints.Quote:

But if he stated "color" and you get black/white, he misrepresented the item and he is at fault.
I bought a pair of Jordans for my friend on eBay. Seller stated that it was too small for him. Got the sneakers, it was a fake. I complained to him and he said that he never mentioned it was authentic. Yes, thats true but he also said that it was a REPLICA. He got himself caught there. In the dictionary, replica is a copy or duplicate. I filed for claim with PayPal and they found him at fault. According to eBay policy, max is $66 that can be returned. I paid $91. I'm still missing $25. I emailed seller and threathened for the for $25. He made an excuse saying he didnt know about the dispute with PayPal. He sent the $25. I also told him, if he wants the shoes, he has to pay for shipping.

Anyway, I went ahead and filed a report with Paypal. On a whim, I checked the option to keep the package and recieve a partial refund of £13.00, rather then send it back to the UK at my expense. Either way it sucks because I really don't have any reason to have a B+W unit, considering I've already purchased Final Lap Special, Golden Axe, and Guilty Gear Petit.
