Need Laptop Help fast..
Well I bought my gf an old laptop for school, and it runs good, so i decided to upgrade and buy her 2 sticks of PC 100 128mb to put in the only two slots for Ram, so i leave the existing stick in, and put in a new one, and it wont start windows because "system32/DRIVERS/pc.sys" is missing or corrupt, it says i can attempt to repair it by starting windows and using the original CD-ROM and select the 'r' at the first screen to start the repair.
But i dont know what i am doing when it starts the repair, its all in MS-DOS.. can someone help me navigate to fix this problem.. ?
What should i do?

Your story is so vague and headscratching I don't know if anyone could help. Let me get this straight...you had 2 slots for RAM on it, one was full and you put two sticks into the one remaining slot?
This makes no sense

ok. hear it is, i only have 2 RAM slots, in one i already had a stick of 64mb, so we bought 2 sticks of 128mb, so replace it, so i only put 1 stick of 128mb, and left the 64mb alone, just to see if that stick would registar, and when i started the comp, it said the windows would not start, and gave that error about. When i take outthe the 128mb stick and leave the 64mb stick where it always was, it works great.
thats the problem, does it mean that the stick of 128 is broken? or is the driver actually missing? i dont get it..
Sorry, i was in a rush..

It means suicide is the only option.

Take the 64 MB stick out and put one 128 in its place. If it works, take that 128 and put the other 128 in the same place. If it works, try putting both in there. If it works, then throw the 64 away. If not, then perhaps the previously unused RAM slot is bad or something.
RAM doesn't mix and match well (or at all, depending on the scenario)

Well, when i put the 128mb stick in the 64mb's place, and turn it on nothing really happens, i can hear fans, and the HDD hums a bit, but nothing on the screen.. and it looks like its in sleep mode. That happends when i put both sticks in too, or any of the sticks are put in alone. When i put the any of the 128mb sticksin the second slot with the 64mb stick in the first slot, it boots, and gives me the error. :( its a sad time..

Maybe it's a bad stick then? What's your laptop's model number? I'll check to make sure you got the right kind of memory for it.

Sorry this is a little late, but i still could use the help,
Its a Thinkpad A20m, if that helps.
And does it say anywhere on the RAM what the FRU number is? so i can match it to the IBM website?

Well, I checked, and it is the correct type of memory for the laptop. So...I dunno. The chances of BOTH sticks being bad are pretty remote, unless you laid the bare chips on a fluffy carpet or something.
