What doesn't belong?

My computer has been running slower and slower lately, which might be due to Rhydant removing then puting some RAM back in. Who knows. It might also be because I have things running that I dont want to have running, but again I have no idea. I was hoping some of you poeple more in the know could take a look at a picture of my task manager and tell me if there is anything there I dont want to have on my computer, and if you know how, tell me how to get rid of it. Any help would be appreciated, I really don't know much about this stuff.

And yes, this computer is so old that my system name is box drink... whatever.

when i did this before i found a site that had most of the process names listed of various programs for this very purpose. I don't have the address anymore but google should help if you type a bunch of them in.

I immediatly see qttask, winampa, realsched (i'm guessing thisis from real player)

So those three things are safe to get rid of?

Also, I'd use goodle, but I trust people here a lot more than a random site. Someone like cka or josh could probably look at that picture for three seconds and tell me exactly what's going on

I think it might have to do with Kerio Personal Firewall

If you use media player classic you can ditch real player and quicktime.

I like that kpf4gui.exe is running twice.

I don't know what most of that shit is. When I have something running I don't understand I google search the name of the process and figure things out from there. Thats really the best thing to do. You know your computer.

You can still use quicktime and real player even if you disable thier background processes. And also, about inadvertently deleting the wrong thing, you should be able to boot to safe and turn whatever you fucked up back on. Just figure out how to do that.

edit - Actually, once you change stuff it asks you if you want to keep it on reboot, so if it didn't work i think it will just reset to the old settings.

Yes, this is most certainly the best thing to do.

One handy-dandy thing to do is click on the start menu, click "run" and type msconfig. Go to selective startup, and uncheck anything that's not important. Meaning you'd leave stuff for your AVG antivirus and firewall, but get rid of the quicktime starter thing, winamp agent, and some of that other crap that you don't need. It doesn't delete anything, it just prevents those programs from running at startup, and if it fucks something up just go back in and reclick it.
