How so?

If I want to make sure Kingdom Hearts II is at gamestop for me the day it comes out, does it really hurt to put five dollars on it in andvance? I get all that money back, it's not like it actually cost me anything to have them hold one for me.

That's odd. Some websites have listed Neowave for Xbox with a November release date. I don't mind too much that it got pushed back till February, because it gives me more time to play KoF 2003 online. Where did you get the info?

EDIT: Gamespot has it listed for February 2006. Markryan, you should tell IGN that their November release date for KoF: Neowave (Xbox) might be wrong.

It actually does cost you. GameStop earns interest on any money that you put down. Therefore, you don't earn that interest. That is oppotunity cost. You have lost money. The chances of a game selling out on day one is very, very low with few exceptions. Thus, you are spending more and not getting any value in return. You are making GameStop quite profitable, however, so if you are a shareholder you might care. I personally don't.

How are they earning interests? Do they take your pre-order money and put it in a savings account?

Ha! Who cares?!

Im putting the 5 down to hold the game, and it gets held. Sure on a big game like Kingdom Hearts II it does not matter to reserve it, but something like KoF2002/2003 they might not get without someone preordering it.
