Transporter 2

Saw this last night. It was like a cartoon version of the first movie. And I don't mean that in a good way.

Some stuff was good- Jason Statham's a pretty cool guy, and the fight scenes were well-done. But so much ridiculous, impossible shit happens that it just ruins the movie.

Example: A bomb's attached to the bottom of his car. It's about to be set off by the bad guy. Frank sees a crane hook suspended over water. So he jumps his car off a ramp, flies over the water, spins the car upside down in the air so that the hook precisely knocks the bomb off the gas tank (which explodes a second later), then spins the car upright just in time to land safely on land again. Not a scratch on the car.

I mean, there's suspending disbelief, and then there's that. And the movie's filled with it.

And the horrible CG (the worst I've seen in years, I mean there's a jet plane near the end that looks like it was rendered on an N64) doesn't help matters.

First movie was better.

BTW, the evil chick in this movie was super-hot.

Bummer about the over the top stuff but as long as it captures some of 1's fun I am there. Any cool "moments" that compare to the first (ie: the doorbell scene :D )?

Oh, definitely. There's a part where he's fighting some cops and cuffing them together into Twister-like positions with their own handcuffs. Then there's a fight scene where he uses a fire hose in all manner of inventive ways that's just amazing.

But then he'll jump a jet ski 500 feet out of the water and land and ride it ON A PARKWAY, or he'll do silly, next to impossible things involving Ipods and Police computers and it'll just totally take you out of the moment.

I'll see this if I ever drop by for a mat viewing. I've yet to watch the first however.

The fire hose fight and the visiting French Inspector guy are the only two good things in this movie. I was laughing my ass off at how retarded the rest of it was. Jason Statham is hot.

Yeah, that had me shaking my head in disgust, also

when he breaks the concrete barrier and lands across the street about 5 stories, and the grill's not even dented I got a distinct feeling that I was going to horribly disappointed with the rest of the movie. And other than the fights scenes, I was right.

I enjoyed it. Loved the first one...but you pretty much nailed it in your description of the movie.

Not to mention how insanely fake-looking the CG car was during that scene.
