I fucking hope not Konami sucks now adays
Man, there's a lot of consolidation going on in these videogame companies these days. Is this a really bad sign for the industry when this is happening?
games are going to cost a lot more and take a lot more people to make. if a game flops it'll be disastrious for any one single company.
Yeah, and Konami is banging out the hits too...
This would probably be the greatest gaming company in the industry if it happened, imo.
Only if they kept creative control, but I still think it's a bad idea. Besides MGS I'm not that into what Konami is doing these days.
Agreed. They've both put out some shit, lately, but their good games more than make up for it.Quote:

SegaSammy should buy them, and SNK-Playmore while they're at it.
Hell yes! Maybe the only viable publisher left in Japan can give Capcom a kick in the ass and tell them stop making Mega Man games.
You yourself said RE4 was game of the year. I like Konami too, but what makes them so much better than Capcom?Quote:

I'm just not feeling the Konami of now, If you look at my NES, SNES collection, Konami made up a HUGE ass chunk of my games, hell even last generation between the N64 and PS1 they had a good fair share, this generation has been very different
I don't like the sound of this.
Beatmania > All other gamesQuote:

Capcom has Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and maybe Onimusha. Sega has Panzer Dragoon Orta and Virtua Fighter. Square has nothing. Namco has Ridge Racer and Soul Calibur. Japan is worse today than it was five years ago, but Konami still headlines the Japanese lineup.Quote:

AvP? You mean the 1990s arcade game? We're talking current gen.Quote:

i havn't followed it much but does the newest ps2/xbox castlevania game still look like a hi-res N64 game? i have no idea how LoI could look as good as it did, yet this newer game looks like poo.
I started the first one last night, and I can say that it's already been $5 worth of entertainment, but I don't really know how much more I'll get. If someone went into this expecting Castlevania, they'd be sorely disappointed. So far, though, it's not a bad game.Quote:

The same with Konami. I mean, their 2D handheld Castlevanias are great (but they should be on consoles instead of shitty 3D versions), and while I hate anything storyline related to Metal Gear Solid, I fully admit that the gameplay is damn fun. Otherwise, Konami's in a rut too. Silent Hill: The Room was blah, and everything else sucks.
Well, Rumble Roses was fun. :D
yeah, so we can have 20 different 'high res sprite based horrible playing' fighters that come out on a bi-yearly basis. sammy hasnt produced anything worthwhile since the original buzz about GG's artstyle was the hip and in thing to talk about. period.Quote:

Martial Champions vs. Street Fighter? Not bad for a Vs. title, though I'd prefer Yie Ar Kung-fu vs. SF with the insane jumps. Capcom could throw in some serious Aerial Rave action here.
Then again, I like the idea of Konami ordering the resurrection of some Capcom shooter franchise. Make mine a Treasure & G.Rev developed 19XX II.
No one is mentioning Konamis ace in the hole:
Karaoke Revolution
It's the only video game you can play with a house full of adults male and female. I just wish it would come out more often/have more DL content.
DREAM MIX TV: WORLD FIGHTERS VS. CAPCOM
Hopefully this will result in CV getting ripped out of IGA's incompetent clutches and given to the RE team.

IGA's batting 0 for 2 in the 3D action department, and it looks very likely that it's about to become 0 for 3.
I have no problem with him continuing the portable games and maybe even overseeing the story development on consoles, though.
I think the problem comes from RE's "action" portions. I mean RE has never been known for great action really. It's all about atmosphere. I think people are looking at Castlevania for both the atmosphere and the action. It needs to be top notch, and the level design needs to be interesting and entertaining.

People certainly are entitled to their opinion, but that in no way keeps it from being dead wrong. It could be your opinion that humans breathe cheese instead of air, that doesn't make it so. Ergo, your opinion can be that RE4 is an inferior game, but it's contrary to obvious facts.Quote:
