you wont be playing jackshit when the power goes out - better grab a discman or ipod - its going to happen any hour now.
Honestly, how bad is it getting there? The storm is really missing you guys by quite a bit. The only reason that we are still seeing Houston & Galveston on the weather channel & news stations is because all their reporters are embedded there & cant get out.
JM
I have 29 mph winds and 39 mph gusts in my area as I type . power has gone out once here and things are picking up - The eye will cross the coast in an hour - brace yourselves for something worse people, good luck and stay safe! Good luck to the guys in Louisiana and East Texas, JM- watch the storm it might come towards you.
Yes thankfully we are being spared , i feel bad for the folks in the path of the eye wall - that was supposed to be me, mars and tracer two days ago. I'm not releasing my breath however until the eye hits shore and we're certain where its going.
The strongest part of Rita is hitting the shore as I type this.
This is it, folks. Time to see what this monster's gonna do now.
According to Weather Channel, the power's still on in Galveston, and they got those fires put out before they could get more than 3 buildings.
Sulphur, LA better get hunkered down hard, because that's where it's gonna hit, looks like.
Also, TWC just had a "windy" icon placed over Houston for the Forecast. That's about up there with "the sky is blue on clear days" on the No Shit Scale.
Yes. Yes I am.Quote:

amzingly enough - i made it through the night without losing power, I probably will lose it today in the next hour b/c of the intense winds out side and the coming rains from the east. I went out side briefly and surveyed my place - no wind damage so far. Hows everyone else doing?
Its over, myself, Mars and Tracer are fine - the skies are clearing and while its still a little windy, its only 20 mph at best really, the sun is out and its nice and cool outside. At most there were a couple flashes of power outage for split seconds, but I was really fortunate in not having my power permanently cut (its funny b/c for no reason at all sometimes, my power will get cut on a calm sunny day, but the day of a major hurricane, I'm fine). The storm changed so much from going west to sharply going north- and i basically caught a lucky break - two nights ago i was in direct path of the eye wall and then the worst I ended up getting was some tailing rainstorms that were over with in mere minutes.
I'm exhausted, physically and mentally - I just was outside taking the boards off the windows and cleaning up stray branches, checking on the neighbors house next door...but very very relieved. I know I dodged a freight train here and I'm extremely grateful. I hope FM and Brad and everyone else didn't get it so bad. I think that darquebishop and lhadhatt are still out of power in Spring, however the winds are below 40 mph (the electric company sends out ppl only if winds are 40 and below) so they will be fixed up soon. Thanks for the well wishes everyone - its nice for this to be over.... well it will really be over once are gas stations are fully supplied again.
Good to hear you made out fine station, hopefully we'll hear from the others soon.
