MSN keeps adding random people to my contact list

In the last few weeks random fuckers have been showing up on my contact list. One guy was from Team Xbox. I've never been to that forum. Some other dude was from England. Every single person MSN has added had video games or video related MSN names/pictures. Anyone else experiencing this?

One time, when I was trying to listen to the Katamari Damacy theme that was being debated in the We <3 Katamari thread, I spilled a HUGE cup of coffee all over my cubicle trying to plug in my headphones. And thus I was out $2 and my caffeine fix. :( Now my office area smells like Seattle's Best because of TNL. There's a non-techie anecdote for ya. Sorry I'm off topic.

I don't have this issue because I don't use crappy MSN :-D In a non jadded/TNL fasion, I could say I've never heard of this happening, and it's strange that it's places you've never been to. SPAM!

No because Americans tend to opt for the inferior product. This would be AIM over Yahoo! in this case.

I used to use it... I had too many incompatability issues though. Then they had me beta test their product, and it would crash EVERY time I installed it, so I gave up. I've heard it's much better now, but I don't feel like paying again.

And Brisco, don't you have to approve the contacts being added?
I do know if you use Trillian at all that you shouldn't try to use more than one msn account. that's bad news. Unless you WANT your girlfriend to know you have a secret second address....not that this has ever happened to me.

One guy I approved because I thought I knew who it was. They said they didn't send the request that I authorized. Another guy just started talking to me.

I wouldn't say you got hacked, but MSN's servers are just being screwy. It's happened to me before. Don't sweat it.

Did you leave yourself signed in on someone else's pc?

I used to use GAIM, then Adium, which is based on GAIM, and now I use Microsoft Messenger, which isn't the same as MSN messenger.

I wish google would get their app out on mac.

Personally, I choose to keep MSN off by going to preferences and unchecking the box that says "run at windows startup".

..and that reason is because about 8 billion more people use AIM than yahoo.

They have Microsoft Messenger now, which is geared more to corporate users.
It does everything I need it to, and I haven't encountered any bugs yet.
It's basically MS's excuse to not maintain MSN for Mac, not like they were anyway.

I wish they'd give WMP the same treatment, because the Mac version of WMP9 is completely useless.

I used to use Trillian WAY back when it was first released, I remember hearing about it on The Screensavers and Patrick Norton just couldn't be wrong, and it did work fine for a few weeks...but it got to the point that it kept having trouble signing into different chat clients (Yahoo, IRC) that I eventually just said forget it. Everyone I know uses AIM anyway. But yeah, it could be better now, this was years ago.

I originally installed AIM to speak to TNLers. A few weird conversations later and I don't log on anymore.
