The Complete Maus
I was at my local comic book shop today and noticed a graphic novel called The Complete Maus. It looked like a retelling of the holocaust via animals, and I was going to check it out except for one thing.
25.00 price tag.
Just wondering if anyone here has ever read it. Is it worth the that price?
-
Fuck yeah. Double that even.
(I always found it a bit jewey for them to split it into two books)
-
The price kept me away too.
-
One of the best Holocaust memoirs ever created, in any medium.
Hell yes it's worth picking up.
-
Haven't read it in probably about a decade (one of my books was stolen and I have no idea what happened to the other), but yeah, it's some great stuff.
-
Buy it, read it, realize what a bargain you got. It's one of the best comic stories you can find, and it's about far more than just the holocaust. It's also a story about a son (Spiegelman) trying to get his father's memories out of him while the old guy drives him nuts. Great stuff.

I haven't read it personally but several of my friends have and they've raved about it. One was even assigned to read it for a college social studies course.
-
It's worth a lot more then $25.00.
-
That's one of the most famous comics ever made. I read it a really long time ago but I remember it pretty well. Check it out.
-
I've never read it, but if I recall correctly, it is over 10 years old now.

Back in the day, I was assigned Maus I and II for a 100 level Political Science course. Excellent book, great professor.
-
Amazing books. Read them years ago. Worth $25 easy.
-
Bought them today.
They really are great.Thanks?

Read it in Barnes & Nobel's once. Liked the first volume more than the second.
-
I didn't like it. Holocaust stories are played out like WWII shooters.
Eh actually I'm sure it's a very sincere, touching book but the characters were...so stereotypical to me they almost seemed like caricatures.
-
Pass on it.
One man can only take so many stories about the holocaust before it just gets repetitive.
-
So much bad comic book writing put me off buying it. If I come into money I'll buy it (and probably regret buying it).
-
Regardless of content Maus marks a milestone in comicbook storytelling right up there with Watchmen. STFU and just buy the thing already. Your local library will probably carry it too.
(cheap fuck)
