Good news. Those exploding penguins were great news.
Wait, can we postpone this title to the PS3? People really don't seem to be winding down production of PS2 games, do they? I guess I can't blame them.
Why postpone a game that comes out in a couple months to a system that doesn't even have a release year yet?Quote:

Fucking, badical.
Good idea, NIS. Should have thought of it two games ago though.
It better not be kicking that gridless system bulljive. I like my Disgaea free of any impurities.
Yeah, if it's a totally, totally different battle system with a new main cast, then it's effectively "New NIS game" with Disgaea 2 slapped on the cover and another Laharl cameo.Quote:

What's this now?
I might actually be buying another NI game.
Such great news. I think I'll have to play the first again to properly celebrate. Time to pray for a U.S. release, which SHOULD be a given, but just to be safe...
I don't play these games, but I had assumed that Phantom Brave and Makai Kingdom and Le Pucelle were all sequals/prequals to Disgaea. Whatever.
No, they had nothing to do with Disgaea's story.
I couldn't give two shits about any of them.
All different games, just a shit-load of cameos.
They did. They've been planning this since Phantom Brave. I'm sure this was meant to follow it, but they had that aborted PSP project Makai Kingdom to deal with.Quote:

I guess we'll find out sometime in 2006.
That's too bad, because Phantom Brave was great.Quote:

A sequel to Disgaea was strongly hinted in the Q&A section in the back of the Makai Kingdom guide. Anyway, credit has to go to djpubba for accidentally confirming it on the doublejumpbooks forums a couple months ago. (Thanks!) XD He tried to retract it, but he never seemed like the type of guy to lie... and well, it was too late by then.
http://www.nippon1.co.jp probably will be updated by the end of the week w/ screens or art.
I think this decision was made more because there's a Disgaea anime being made that will probably come out about the same time as this will. Which means crossover sales+++ for both projects.
Good news, as Disgaea was a cool game (Trialsword, I still need to copy that save from you at some point, if you still have it).
Still, if I worked at Nippon Ichi I'd want to kill myself, making the same goddamn game over and over. They're really getting their money's worth out of that engine.
No Etna love? Now that's cute.Quote:

Disgaea 2 takes place three years after the original, and it features new main characters. Producer Souhei Shinwaka told Dengeki PlayStation that he had originally planned to take the characters from the first game and make them Disgaea 2's heroes. Instead, he created a new world and cast for Disgaea 2 and gave the characters from the original Disgaea, including heroine Etona and the Prinny penguins, supporting roles.
The main character in Disgaea 2 is Adel, a red-haired, hot-tempered 17-year-old. All the people in Adel's world were turned to devils 15 years ago, when the dark lord Xenon appeared and cursed the populace. For unexplained reasons, Adel is the only person unaffected by the curse, and he sets out to fight Xenon and turn his family back into humans. Despite the demonic setting, Disgaea 2 stays true to the series' comedic tradition, often employing dark humor.

The Magic Box did its duty and pulled screens from those scans.
HOLY SHIT, IT'S MICKY.
Finally. Finally. Finally.
The first RPG I will probably import simply because I cannot wait.
I do hope the gridless makes a comeback, cause once you get used to it, you can't go back. Hell NIS could put their games out on the PSone and they would still rock...as others said, they are as oldschool as it gets.
Nothing more to add except that this just made my holidays even better.

RPGfan reported yesterday and NIS' official site confirmed today that Disgaea 2 will be released in Japan on Feb 23 '06. I'll import it if I have nothing else to play when the time comes.

I was gonna play Phantom Brave (bought it for $20) and played it for about 5 hours, then realized a friend of mine spent like 300 fucking hours playing Disgaea. I used to love these strategy RPG's, and I played through front mission 4, but honestly, how does anyone with a job and a social life have time to play these kinds of games? I do love the art though.
For the record Stevon, I played through Disgaea, but couldn't ever finish Phantom Brave or La Pucelle Tactics.
I play through N1 games veeery slooooo

Disgaea and Rhapsody are all i've ever played to the ending, and i never played much beyond the ending in Rhapsody.
I've been playing La Pucelle since the day it came out. Once every few months i pull it out, raise everyone another 20 levels by lining them up and killing them, build a few weapons to insane levels, sell them, and put it away again. I could stomp the end boss, but i'm trying for everything. One day.
I'll get to the others some day. Doesn't make sense that i still insist on picking them up on release day, but whatever.
NIS updated with lots of screenshots, an illustrated battle system description, and a new movie. Basically, it looks like it'll play very similar to Disgaea (not Phantom Brave or Makai Kingdom) but with a new storyline. They've also added a supreme court to go along with the senate.
Impressions I posted last March on my now-defunct blog. At first Disgaea 2 felt like a huge improvement, especially after the disappointing effort NIS put into Makai Kingdom...
Later on, it lost its appeal and felt like a slog...Quote:
Disgaea 2: A return to the good and bad of 2003's strategy RPG
posted at 03/06/2006 07:28 PM EST
This time one year ago, I wrote a review entitled "Look but don't touch," harshly criticizing Nippon Ichi Software's Phantom Kingdom (later released in the US as Makai Kingdom) on gamefaqs and NIS America, and received in return a hearty disapproval from NIS faithful. Conveniently avoiding the guillotine, I removed it from both sites prior to US release. The internet hasn't (nor have I) seen it since, but to best illustrate how well Disgaea 2 redeems NIS, it'd be relevant to rehash a few points:
- hideous graphics and backgrounds in cutscenes after chapter 1
- limited contribution by NIS' longtime composer, Tenpai Sato
...and the biggest offense...
- only one playable NIS-licensed character before the ending
D2 addresses each of these complaints while also "correcting" the evolution of NIS' SRPG battle system in Phantom Brave and MK.
A lot more attention was given to the presentation. The introductory anime turned out excellent. It even gives a hint of how the upcoming Disgaea anime may look, while reuniting and introducing fans to favorite characters, classes, and newcomers. No 6-month development cycle this time around! The next obvious improvement was the switch to high-resolution graphics: full-screen anime portraits, level textures, and the font all sport a cleaner look. However, some cutscenes mix the portraits with resampled low-res animated sprites, the exact ones used during battles. In other words, large blurry characters are thrown on top of ultra-crisp backgrounds.
Tenpai Sato is back! He blends remixes of the prequel's best with plenty of new Disgaea-esque tunes. None have been as catchy as my personal favorites "Violent Emotion" or "Heaven's Garden" from PB, but usually the best is saved for last.
I've acquired 6 all-new story characters through chapter 9, but Etna, Laharl, and Flonne still haven't joined my party. You know they're going to show up eventually because they're in the intro, but it's still weird to play a Disgaea "sequel" without the big three. That begs the question, "Can a game be a sequel without its original characters?" After all, NIS already brought them back in PB and MK as unlockables. There has to be an extra level of consistency because all of their games already are spin-offs of one another. And... (I love to find faults) this brings up Disgaea's only flaw; you will feel like you've played this game before, in the good sense and bad.
Although there are a few modifications to the prequel's gameplay (the judicial accompanies the legislative branch of hell's congress, every 10 floors in item dungeons have shops and a recovery point, characters can deal extra damage when stacked, etc.), there's no change here as significant as PB's "confine" or MK's "invite" system. Plus, we're back to methodical grid movement. No big deal, right? Well, don't forget that to get anywhere in the story mode, you'll occassionally need to take a time out to level-up by traipsing through long random dungeons. Therefore, even though the story mode boards are unique (not to mention quite complex brainteasers), the item world would feel exactly the same if not for the graphics and new characters (IF you prefer them over created characters, that is)! Who wants to level-up something from scratch that they've already mastered? Not me at least... that's why RPGs have an inherently low replay value unless there's a bonus dungeon or "new game +" feature. Wouldn't it have been cool to transfer high-level transmigrated characters from your Disgaea 1 savefile instead of making them anew? Imagine if you'd have been given the chance to level them from 9,999 to 99,999,999... XD
So there you have it--I always can find something wrong! Nevertheless, I strongly recommend it, especially when considering how well NIS America's quality voiceovers will highlight the slapstick humor. Dubbing rules!
More complaints. Both of the following refer to the second most annoying stage in the game:Quote:

I've started chapter 13 of 14. The grids and especially the crystals are wearing me down. I love gridless SRPG systems and haven't a clue where this facination with 90 degree movement comes from... Final Fantasy Tactics nostalgia perhaps? Anyway, I'm annoyed by invisible invincibility/resistances. Damage from ATK is inversely proportional to DEF just as INT is to RES. Late in the game, however, you'll find the occassional wolf or boss who's stats SUCK but inexplicably can "0" whatever you throw at them. Suddenly you realize you've dug yourself into a statemate because the AI knew this and you didn't-- which is why they killed off your strongest mage when the stage started. Pure evil. I felt like cracking my disc after that happened. At least 90 minutes were wasted.

I'm at 13-2. ... 3x enemy bonus highlights everything: the enemies hit you 3x as hard, and you're 3x as weak. You've gotta destroy the crystal, right? Well, it's on the far side of the board and would take 5 turns to move a character there. No problem, just stack some characters and toss 'em all over there, huh? Wait a minute, there's another crystal on the same color disabling you to stack and/or throw. Plus another color disabling you to walk across.
For the record, I eventually beat D2, although it's apparent that you either have to: (1) be at least 10 Lvls higher than your enemies or (2) beat each stage the way NIS planned it. Every board is like a puzzle with different rules to win. There's no leeway to be creative in how to kill your opponents. Not a good quality.Quote:
March 21, 2006, 10:20:23 pm
When you guys get to the map I was talking about, please tell me how to beat it! It's shaped like an amphitheater with flashing red 3x bonus. The crystal is on the far side, and there's a 20% damage crystal on the top edge that you could throw onto the red squares for added effect. There also are 3 planks with girl mages on each overlooking the donut hole. You'll know when you get there.

The thing is, that fans know what they are getting into. If you liked the first one, you will like the second. I personally have played enough of the import to know that I will like it. It really is a re-engineering of the first with tweaks, but that's ok with me. Laharl and co. are all hidden characters. I mean for me, I'd be perfectly happy with the same game with new locales or expansions, something I think NIS should have done a while ago (offer expansion packs for existing games). New classes, maps, weapons, etc. The engine works fine for me.Quote:

I wouldn't just say, well now I don't want to play it cause someone said they don't like it.
Ask yourself, did you like the first one? Could you replay it with some minor tweaks? If so, then there's you answer. If you want a whole new game, then D2 won't be for you. It's got enough upgrades and new classes, etc. to warrant another 100+ hours from me. In the entire videogame universe, it's ok with me if a handful of the games are all built off the same engine, cause I like them. Sure I would have liked progressive scan and some other upgrades, but I'm just happy that we are getting the game in the first place.

I got my 460pp guide in the mail today. The pages and cover are thinner, but still thick enough that it closes shut each time. The bookmark this time seems to be a business reply card for HGM, not as cute as Phantom Brave's, that's for sure. I made it into the Q&A section again, though--3rd NIS SRPG guide in a row! The streak goes on! :D
All that's left is to pick up the game and then download a few Action Replay codes to get a good jump start.
But didn't you already admit that the game is a big disappointment?
The crystals make many stages annoying, such as 6-2 (beware a stalemate) and 13-2. On the other hand, you could say that's what makes it memorable and distinguishes it from your typical level-grinding RPG. There's also a trade-off between familiarity and burn out.
I need to replay it to find out what happened to Rozalin.
Speaking of contributions, I did the comic in the back.Quote:

I want to get this, actually i want to get the original but Im not spending $100 on it.
I went ahead and got this. Should I go back and play through the original again first to get the feel of it again or jump right into 2?
Wasn't it one of the games that got a reprint by GameQuestDirect or whoever? Might be worth looking up. I'm pretty sure reprints are the only way I got both Disgaea and Gitarooman new. No way to be sure, they don't give any indication that they're reprints, that why f-chan collectors hate them. LOL, fuckers.
I can see that. You don't get anything for having a Disgaea clear save do you?
I think this thing is back on the rare list sadly. Hopefully PSP version will let others play it.
Yeah, as far as story is concerned, I like it better. It's in the same universe, but follows Adell who claims to not like girls but is always surrounded by them...Etna, Laharl, and others will pop-up in the reg game and a ton of extras in the post game.
I would jump to D2 because I think the battle tweaks make it way better than the first. they're subtle, but worth noting. For instance a new tactic is staying in place and attacking from one panel which builds a power meter each turn. You can be thrown around the board and still retain that power bonus up to like 400+ percent. This is really useful for when boards are way over powered.
I def recommend the almost 700 page guide if you're going to spend serious time on this.
Yeah ticks me off, Asagi, Prier, and some others appear, but only a few will join you. I still think it adds tons of stuff for completists and overall has more advanced tactics than any other SRPG I've played.
Cool thing is that there is the main game, dark world which mimics the main, but with other elements such as one level where you have 3 rounds to clear level or its game over (a new geo panel effect, not fun at all), cave of ordeal, extra stages where you get the boss fights, and the item world. So there's a ton of playablility if you love to powerlevel -- honestly I liked the classes, vehicles, and buildings from Makai and had hoped they would trickle in, but oh well...
ssb
Yeah they are. It's all the bonuses and character specific bonuses. For instance, if you leave a weapon or item equipped for a certain # of battles (30 or so) residents will appear that are called lovers, they are character specific, so like I have a Rozalin lover on her one item right now and what it does is boost certain stats for each lover you get.
There's also felonies. You get them from the post office for certain deeds and then go into the item world and enter the court on a certain level. Whoever enters the court gets a felony of a certain amount and you get EXP bonuses, cheaper shop prices etc for more felonies. A cool trick is to build a tower and throw the whole thing into the court, so everyone gets the felonies.
There's all this other crap I will probably never get to, like your residents can get married and have special kids that do certain things to your weapons...honestly, there is so much crap, i doubt anyone will be able to do it all...
ssb
So I went to Best Buy yesterday and got this shiz (as sad as it is, BB really is the most tolerable place to buy games nowadays - no locked cases, no having to ask the trash apes at the counter for the game and maybe have to deal with them trying to sell you a gut, etc.). The story is kind of neat but too channed up for me, but what's the best level to start messing around with Item World? Is the difficulty of the world dependent on the item you're going inside?
Wow, I can't believe Diff is playing this.... I would think a NIS srpg is just too treadmill and more for OC types! Not to mention, f-channy.
Most of the trolls on this board are closet chans. Hence their angry frustration.
hay guys, answer my questions.
Do the item world whenever you feel like leveling. If it's like the first game, then yes, the item world difficulty depends directly on the item's power/level.
Also don't bother unless it's a weapon or some armor. The effects of item world, at least in the first one, were better felt if you went in a cleared 10 levels at a time.
Just take the exit thing with you or you'll hate yourself.
I'm only bothering with the item world for subpeonas, and only when I have a bunch of characters I need to catch up to my main party. The first time I went through a full ten levels I looked at the clock and somehow two whole hours had passed, all spent on a completely optional, non-story related feature. Yikes. I like how they spiced it up a bit, at least.
Also! Thanks for the felonies lesson, ssb. I was wondering how exactly the stat bonuses from those worked, since I couldn't equip them.
Picked this up today. I always hate starting Nippon Ichi games because I always feel like I need to work on each character when I really don't, and you can never afford the items.
This game is owning me, hard.
So far this game isn't as humorous as the first, and Adell is no where near as enjoyable as Laharl was.
Funny, I would say the opposite.
Me too. Laharl was kind of awesome, but he was just there so you could meet Etna. Adell is his own man.
Adell is every video game hero ever. *Shrug*
A little too much of a good guy true, but the chemistry between him and Rozalin is really, really good.
And he's still no Stahn, which was just "good guy" taken to a very sad, typical level.
I wish I played this more though, but I've been tied up working all week. I'm only at Chapter 5. =(
I'm on chapter 7, and the pairing between him and Ros is 100% cliche and predictable. Not to mention several other plot elements that I believe to be predictable. I get the feeling the female servant and male servant are Adell's parents.
Every time Etna shows up everything feels so much more awesome, more reason that the first was overall better, because it had more her.
Some tips for Diff and co -- do not ignore Felonies -- the bonuses to exp etc are too good to be true. Throw some shoes on tink once you get him and he is your item world speed runner, cause he goes through enemies.
This is why you want to do the item world: felonies, leveling items, mystery shops, and pirates (cause killing pirates gets you treasure maps and 16 maps unlocks the land of carnage).
So here's what you can do to make it all worthwhile -- the bailiff tells you what floor the court gate will appear on in subpoenas, but leveling subponeas is pointless cause they suck. Pick an item you want to level, like say devil ring or something easy (the higher level item and rarity will increase difficulty).
Take a bailiff and transfer him to the devil ring and then you can level an item and get the court as well in whatever item you want and you can add multiple bailiffs to items as long as they are higher than the levels you've completed. AND MAKE SURE TO TOWER THROW EVERYONE YOU CAN INTO THE COURT GATE then everyone gets the felonies and you get a hilarious dialogue from the prinnies!
You will most likely find some pirates along the way and maybe some mystery shops that will sell you cell phones, senate items, etc. Speed run through the crap you don't feel like doing and make sure to take a gency with you and finish floor 10 of the item world everytime to get a new gency.
Oh BTW, when you fight pirates, sometimes I get treasure maps and sometimes I don't, I think it depends on what type of attack you use, but I'm not sure...
This game is hard IMO. I would recommend, unlocking the dark world ASAP and beasting on 1-1 right away and start leveling as soon as you can (cause you get millions of HL in the dark world and can buy expensive items that will make puny chars not puny anymore). There's a few later levels that are perfect for leveling and even at lvl 100 with the right equipment you can beast level 2000+ enemies. I made the mistake of boosting enemy levels X 5 and actually, it is working out better for me, cause you can do some major powerleveling that way.
Another new obnoxius rule is that to unlock the next class you have to level the previous one, so you can't level your class 1 mage to 160 and hope it will unlock the highest level. You have to go through every class...so a plan could be to reincarnate everytime you have enough for genius level -- which no longer requires court approval like the first woo hoo!
As for the story, I prefer it to the first and feel Adell and Rozy have excellent chemistry as well.
EDIT: I forgot to add a bit about weights. Weights are freaking awesome for 2 reasons -- using them will force you character into critical mode (they drop you to 25% of your life). So I use them for the classes Ronin and female and male ninjas. Male ninjas get evade up, female (kunoichi) get double attacks and ronin (this is my fav) get critical up, so basically, you have the chance of instant killing anything. Anything. Take this guy into those impossible dark world levels.
Second thing about weights (which at first we thought was a glitch) -- when you die, they are destroyed and your char is revived with full life. See where I'm going with this? High level item world baby. You've basically got an army that has two chances at the item world...take gency and you can level through some of the hardest items, die, get revived, go through some more levels, pop out with gency and go back in...
ssb
1. How do you get felonies?
2. I heard Dark World is mega hard, by "beasting" do you just mean replaying the same fight over and over. At what level is it good to start DW?
The problems Im having aren't with the levels or anything... its just I dont know the game systems... for example I tried to slug it through Item World and lost an hour or so of time because I got destroyed at level 8 when a pirate came and kicked my ass. so thats why I was thinking of getting the strat guide. The game is ridiculously deep and even insane. It makes FFT look simple, and FFT was pretty complex.
The postman (with a red "T" shaped symbol over his head) gives out subpoenas; when you have one in your possession, take it to the item world character, and select the subpoena from that menu. The felony will be handed by the prinny court after you've entered the appropriate portal in the subpoena item world. You can leave the item world by using the item "Mr. Gency's Exit" or by leaving after every tenth floor. The process is explained in detail during the main story. I have no idea how to transfer the court to other items. When you accrue a ton of felonies on one character, you can unlock bonus fights with characters from previous NIS games.
Edit: I used item worlds to level in past games, but here I used the main story stages as needed. It has become too complicated IMO.
I'm not a fan of DoubleJump's small format for guides. It's difficult for me to look up the tables I want, even though I'm already familiar with these games. The backward/upside-down spoiler section explains the extras (the stuff you really want to know). It's also the most ridiculously disorganized part of the book. After you turn it upside down, the pages are numbered sequentially according to the upright orientation; moreover, the left page comes before the right, but the pages advance from right to left, like this:
The order is:
| 9 10 | 7 8 | 5 6 | 3 4 | 1 2 |
While the page numbering is:
| 359 358 | 357 356 | 355 354 | 353 352 | 351 350 |
That said, after a few minutes hunting, you'll find the info very helpful and clearly worded.
Yea but how do you get that guy to hand out subpoenas in the first place? He keeps saying Im too much of a noob.
And I used my IW Gency exit already, so whenever I go in again, I either have to get another gency or do the tink thing ssb said.
If you dont know what you're doing... you get owned.
Then you're not far enough along in the main story yet.
After you beat floor 10, 20, 30, etc, you are given the choice to leave, and (if you beat that floor) they'll give you another Gency exit as a departing gift.Quote:

I agree. The leveling is slower than previously, and the geo things stack the odds against you.Quote:

Well I never played the original, or any other N1 game.
You get your first felony subpoena in one of the chapters and it isn't until you complete that one that you can get more.
Go to the mail box next to the dark senate lady and subpoenas are listed by character. You get them for having high attack, gaining levels, etc. You also get them for liking boys, being a loser, and other hilarious stuff. Then take that subpoena and go into it in the item world, or go into an item you transferred the bailiff into. He will be on the floor that represents his lvl, so if there is an 8 next to him, expect the court gate to be on floor 8 of the item. Then whoever goes into the court gate will get the felonies, so make a tower and throw the whole thing in so they all get them.
I stole this list from Gamefaqs for felonies:
"Here is a simple rundown of the felony counts:
High Lvl (20), Hp (500), Sp (250), and all the stats (200 each) are worth 2 felonies.
Too high Lvl (200), Hp (5000), Sp (2500), and all the stats (2000 each) are worth 6 felonies.
Way too high Lvl (2000), Hp (50,000), Sp (25,000), and all the stats (20,000 each) are worth 10 felonies.
Mastering any the Weapons or magic skills (fire, wind, ice, star, and healing), in orderwords getting up to a lvl 15 mastery is worth 12. As a side note, its having 15 total mastery levels for the spells, like lvl 5 star, lvl 5 mega star, and lvl 5 giga star.
The most rewarding one is reincarnating 10 times for 16 points.
There are also a bunch of random felonies which I do not feeling like typing right now, along with "everybody" felonies which have nothing to do with character stats and they are worth 10. Although they cannot be acquired twice even if you start another cycle."
Yeah that is why I hate the item world, I lost an entire morning of work this way cause of pirates. I would prepare by having tink with 3 shoes, and a gency. So to get a gency, pick a really low level item and beat floor ten, get the gency and leave the item. Then when you go in again, it's your easy way out. I treat the item world only as a a means for felonies etc. I hate using it for leveling. So use tink to get to the next floor ASAP, screw finishing the level.
Def get the guide cause it will help a lot. Dark World is hard, but is doable with some work. You have to find 5 (I think 5) hidden switches in teh village to get the dark guide to appear. She's an archer at like level 100. Once you beat her, you can access the dark world. BUT you have to unlock each and every dark world level by doing something special in the standard version of that level.
I forget the parameter for unlocking 1-2, but it's a group of 3 moth doods that revive every few rounds. At first it will seem impossible, but once you have the essential team Adell, Rozy, Taro (who is a freaking BEAST! highest counter in the game and crazy stat levels), a gunner, a strong mage, and a mage knight all at lvl 50 or so and the right equipment, you should be able to do it a few times and then move on to some of the later ones good for powerleveling.
Also, there is a little cheat that will help you a lot with this:
Ok, so here's your magic ticket, which they talk about all over gamefaqs and doublejump boards and which is in the guide -- world 4-3. Those annoying cats who level each turn? Well capture them. Wait for them to level and capture one that you think won't kill your base (you can throw enemies into your base panel to own them at that level). So if Adell is level 50, then try for a level 100 cat, and make sure Adell is left in the base to fight. See where I'm going with this? Then use the level 100 cat to capture a level 200 and so forth. Worst thing is that monsters cannot throw, but you can use them as meat shields. Here's a video of how to do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsXV9iYspTE
Personally, I do it a bit different and didn't take mine to level 9999, cause it feels like cheating to me...but I did capture 3 or 4 level 300 cats to use to soften up the darkworld peeps, have them come out and do some damage and then finish up to level up with your peeps.
Overall, my tactic would be to beat the game once. Go through and get all the story characters, see who you like, do some felonies and maybe unlock some new classes, but overall, treat round 1 as a breeze through. Then on play 2, go into more indepth stuff.
Red Co. agree with you about the layout of the guide, some of it is wonky and I need it bigger.

Yeah right now I'm just playing through the game, no power leveling or anything of the sort. Though I have too now, I'm at chapter 11 and everyone is 35- except for Adell whom is 41.
Treasue maps can have rediculous stats too, it's awesome. I got one with 106 to hit, equipped it on Roz and she's a beast.
The max level nekomatas can get you up to speed (and how), but they are not a ticket to pwntown. Their growth rates blow, and they will get the shit kicked out of them when you make it to Carnage.
As for using Tink to fly through item worlds, that's a good stopgap but you really should prepare a mothman. They have 7 base movement with +1 to move when at 25% or less health. From there, pass their 'Improve Movement' bill in the Dark Assembley and equip them with two Angel's Sandels and the Accelerator (you need to call the defender of Earth three times to get the stage that gives you this item). That is +8 to movement right there, and if you are really obsessive you can use the Item Assemblies to give the items even more move (+12 if you have four Legendary items; the Accelerator is always legendary) and churn through Mothman Lovers (which increase the movement value of an item). If you did all that, their move would approach 30 squares (although that really isn't necessary -- 15 move plus two Heavy Knights is almost always enough to get you whereever).
The ending of Chapter 11 was just, for me, pure awesome.
If anyone still wants it, Disgaea is back on Atlus USA's store for $50. http://atlus.com/cgi-bin/shop
Wow, that's hot.
LOL. Someone already bid on my copy on eBay for more than this. Hope they don't know about this and keep bidding it up.
Not that I'm gonna buy a new copy with the money I've made, I don't think. I mean, I have 2 now, and I'm gonna play it after Yakuza, there's no reason to bother with this, right?
Wait for the psp version. It'll have extra stuff and it'll probably be $40.
