First time playing Xbox Ninja Gaiden. Pretty awesome game, but a bit tough. I'm curious to see at what point I throw my controller at something when I try the harder difficulty levels.

Indeed, I am on stage 6 and wanted to throw the controller away only once or twice. Since then, I learned to run away instead of fighting everything :)

I had to get rid of this game only a few days after purchasing it. I had already slammed down my controller several times, and that was only on the second boss. Not really my kind of game anyways.

That's a shame. The second boss infuriated me until I realized that those fireball-throwing lackeys stop coming after you kill enough of them, leaving the boss to fend for himself. The lunar (the wooden staff) helped a great deal.

The respawning fat guys drop health spirit every time on purpose. When you absorb a blue spirit (holding Y I think it was), you get the second rank attack, just as if you had absorbed two yellows. Kill a fat guy, power up, release when the boss gets close. You're invulnerable to his attacks the entire time you're slashing around doing massive damage. Do it three times and you win. Easy easy easy.

Oh I beat him eventualy. I just found the overall game a bit o demanding for my liking, and just wasn't having fun.

Any hint on how to kill that fiend with the 2 tentacles?? Those 2 things keep hitting me while I am trying to slash them off, sigh.

By then you should have bought your level 2 sword techniques... run at the tentacle, jump, press forward + Y to do that flying slash, then land, turn around, do it again, etc. when a tentacle falls, absorb the blue health thing and nail the boss with it.

See a pattern?

I always just constantly jumped off the wall + Y. The camera's so shitty you'll have no clue what's going on, but the auto-homing takes care of the rest and everyone will just keep running into your attacks and die.

Fair warning: That shit will not fly at higher difficulty levels. Enemies will block it (or just hit you out of the attacks straight-up), and then you will get owned. Hell, even against a lot of the bosses that it worked on in the original Ninja Gaiden (Doku, Alma, etc.), it almost never works now in Black, even on normal.

The camera is still absolute trash, though. Thankfully the auto-targeting is rock-solid or the game would be nigh unplayable (which would be really, really sad).

That's been my primary tactic in NGB on Hard. Maybe on Very Hard or Master it falls apart but it works awesome at least up through a good portion of Hard (I stopped about halfway through when I got distracted by Castlevania stuff).

Got um Phantom Dust and Kingdom Under Fire 1.

Phantom Dust is a hoot, I love the destructible environments. KUF on the other hand I'm still on the fence about, I played a few missions and liked it so far but I'm wondering if I'll have the time for it when the big October/November releases hit.

At least with Phantom Dust the missions can't last longer than 15 minutes each so I have something to chew through for a bit.

Too bad. Swerve is nice, nicer than Battle Ravage. The blue Tracks is the best Corvette, but Swerve's different enough from the other two to merit getting. Same with Decepticharge. He's a hell of a lot nicer looking than Windcharger.

From an Activision event, I got 2 flasks. One for Call of Duty 2 and another from GUN. I'd take a picture if my camera wasn't being LAAAME~

I think the reason for the GUN flask was so that you could get piss-fucking-drunk while playing the 360 version and convince yourself it's a next-gen game.

Not to derail the thread, but I don't see what's so great about teasing Jeremy all the time. Not to say that he isn't used to it by now, but this is almost as bad as the Mortal Kombat thing you all enjoyed but recently. There are other posters here, more worthy of being nitpicked on.

This is my first time ever referring to Jeremy ever. Doesn't mean I haven't noticed his posts or not. I have absolutely no problem with him, just pointing out the obvious. :P

Indeed, I grinned every time I hear "Hunter". I remember when this game first came out, I thought the cover looked shitty so I didn't buy it, never realized that it is a Thunderforce/TechnoSoft shooter. :bang:

Yep! It's Thunderforce IV, matter of fact. Why the renamed it, I'll never know. The music/ship design/gameplay/weapons are a dead giveaway.
