With the Halo movie set to hit cinemas in 2007, some believe that Microsoft may release Halo 3 at the same time as a tie-in game to the movie. However, this theory seems to contradict comments made by Bill Gates himself. A Time magazine article published earlier this year quotes Gates as saying, “It’s perfect. The day Sony launches, and they walk right into Halo 3.”

In light of Gates’ comments, it looks likely that Halo 3 will be released in Spring 2006 in an attempt to divert attention from the launch of Sony’s next-generation PS3 console. It’s also possible that Halo 4 will be ready for release as the tie-in game for the Halo movie in 2007.

I don't think I buy this shot as anything more than a fan based "Bullshot", but this is the first real news on Halo 3 that's come out so far, so I figured some people might be interested.

It's a pre-rendered background from some really old game that I can't remember too clearly. I hope Halo 3 will look a little better than that.

I played Halo 2 after not playing since the Map Pack came out. Even when I take long breaks I usually don't go all retarded but good lord, I can barely even look around anymore :D I'm keeping my ass in Practice Rumble Pit until I can get used to the XBOX controller again.

Okay, yeah, having I think at this point it's rather silly of me to not spoil it, so I will.

Peter Jackson is now the Exec Producer. While this can help ensure quality, they also have WETA to do the effects. That actually got me even more excited. Now we only need word on a director and we can start getting our hopes up.

I'm actually glad this isn't coming out this year. I'm still having fun with Halo 2, plus PS3 will be next fall hopefully, along with whatever good stuff comes out for 360, I really have no need for Halo 3.

But rumors do get me somewhat excited to see what Bungie is going to show at E3.

The latest Game Informer has a two-pager on Bungie's next project called "Forerunner." They speculate that this could be Halo 3 under a codename. Supposedly, "Forerunner" is to sport 4-player co-op and non-linear gameplay.

4-player co-op, if actually in the game, must be online. Any game that sports offline co-op for a next gen system damn well better be online too.

And if done properly, I would love Halo's single player to be non linear in fashion. That's really what killed the second games single player for me, the levels some how seemed even less open than the levels in the first game. That and the shitty story. :sweat:

Microsoft can't really worry about the holiday season. PS3 will be sold out everywhere throughout, nothing Microsoft can do about that. What they need to try and do is stop the bleeding when they get a chance. Spring 2007 seems like a good time to try.

Halo 3 better get rid of the stupid matchmaking. Words cannot describe how boring it is to wait up to 5 minutes for it to find a game with enough players only to have everyone quit with no way for new people to join. Dumbest idea ever. Ive been playing lately and 90% of the time, people on my team quit instantly if they see someone above a level 30. Super lame.

They also better increase the players online way way above 16. I want to play 30 minute capture the flag games, not 2 minutes.

Even as a PC FPS gamer, I think Halo rocks. It is a truely rewarding game to the skilled player. Ill buy a 360 when this comes out.

You're problem is you play with low level games where people don't care.

When I play game for my higher ranks, everyone paly serious, games last a long time and no one quits.
