Vampire is such crap. Such fresh, smelly, meaty, tasty, slick shit. Such good stuff.
FighterX- Yes, the music is pretty awesome.. it flows so well with the feel of the game.
Favorites to use: Morrigan, Felicia, Lilith
Like also: Bulleta, Phobos... Hell, all the characters are likable. That's why this game is so good.
And the fighting system is solid as... Very solid.

Hey, you won't find a bigger Darkstalkers/Vampire fan than brother Dolemite. I still remember seeing the first game in the arcades and feeling that this was something different. No fighting game has the character design this game has. The animation is fantastic with all sorts of funny little things hidden in the character's various movements. It plays great, too. As far as I'm concerned it's the ultimate "cult" fighting game. I've actually been able to track down a decent amount of Japanese merchandise- action figures, post cards, pencil boards, art books, stickers...I can't get enough. I can't wait until Capcom makes part 4...

I only have Vampire Chronicle (first DC import) and VS with the RAM (LOVE the box) in terms of actual V games, unfortunately... I need the originals.
VS is sorta better than the DC version... but hardly, but whatever. VS is so solid.
VS has more style than any other fighting game, I think. Damn..

I unfortunately dont have original Vampire/DarkStalkers, but have NightWarriors and Vampire Savior on saturn(with 4mb goodness)
The games are beatifully drawn, and quite unique in their presentation. These are not your regular martial artists competing in some tournament, but legendary monsters of horror stories and legends bouting to be the best :)
And dont forget Dark Stalkers OVA Anime as well, for more DS goodness :)
I am also a big fan of the Vampire series, I hope Capcom will someday release a new one with nice high res. instead of sprite rips like they always do :(

Hey Dolemite, do they have any cool Gallon / Jon Talbain mechandise; figures, art, anything... he doesn't seem to get as much stuff as say Felicia or Morrigan, so if I could find some cool stuff or at least know it exists then I would be able to search for it ^_^
It's funny because the characters looks pretty damn nice in VS (compared to when Morrigan is thrown in CvS)... World of difference, really.
I never liked Gallon too much.... I hate that damn multiple 'fly forward blue streak' move...
I'd love to have a wall scroll of the VS cover art... Too bad I've never seen any...
Was Bulleta a charge character in the second Vampire?

Well a few years ago I had the chance to buy a Vampire arcade machine for about 600 bucks. Well this was when I was just into college and stupid me refused-- now that I think back I should have bought it-- 600 bucks is not much to pay for this amazing game...

I picked up a really sweet B.B. Hood figure at Toys r Us a while back...and yes, B.B. Hood is my favorite character in the Vampire series and in MvC2--she rocks beyond belief and there's nothing like whooping Magneto or sentinel with a little girl...

It's nice to find fellow fans. I've even got an intelligent discussion about it going on at Gamefaqs, answering special moves questions and what not. I just brought the DC version recently, and let me tell you, it's pretty nice. It's a good "what if" game, with countless possibilities. I also have Vampire Savior and Hunter on Saturn BTW.
The characters are just so well fleshed out and indescribably cool! All the little subtleties and animations are truely a sight to behold. It's no wonder I used to ride 5+ miles on my bike every weekend just to go play Darkstalkers 1 at a convienience store ^_^
My favs are Demitri, Bishamon, Jedah, Morrigan, Phobos, Talbain, Rikuo ( Screw jet owns ), Felecia, Donovan, Lilith, Anakaris, and Q-Bee! I like basically everyone on the game, and try to rotate regularly.
You know, I wish that it caught on here in America. It's one of the most beautifully animated, balanced, and addictive fighters I've ever played. This game is a testament to the wonders of 2-D. How can anyone or any company ( Sony ) would want it to NOT be on their systems in abundance? I hope things will change now that Capcom vs. SNK 2 is on the PS2 and MVC 2 is coming to PS2 and X-Box.

There are so many things to say.
Well, the merchandise is hard to come by. Most of it I've picked up at anime/sci-fi convensions. I'm sure you could find some stuff online. I have several figures- some are Japanese imports I found at an import gaming store I live near- Morrigan and Jedah, to be exact. The Japanese Morrigan figure is awesome- it has movable wings and everything! The Jedah one's pretty cool, too. At a convention I was at a month or two ago I picked up little mini- statues made of plastic- Morrigan, B.B. Hood, Lilith, and Tron Bonne (from Megaman Legends). All very nice. And some DS figures were actually released by Toy Biz in their Darkstalkers 3/Marvel Vs. Capcom toy line. These are pretty good for the most part, which is a suprise since it's an American company. From that line I have Victor (the figure is amazing- looks just like him, and his brain actually pops out!), B.B. Hood (again, excellent likeness- she comes with an uzi, knife and a picnic basket), J. Talbain (pretty good, but has a hinged jaw that makes him look kinda weird), Dimitri (beyond amazing- Toy Biz did him perfectly!), Morrogan (sorry, THIS figure BLOWS! She looks retarded...avoid at all costs!), and Lilith (eh...not as bad as the Morrigan figure, but still not good- she has a round head). What's cool is that all the figures come with their "cursed" forms (you know, that thing Anakaris does).Quote:

Well, as I stated above, Toy Biz did release a Jon Talbain figure as a part of their Darkstalkers 3 line (I'm still shocked there was an American DS line at all). It shouldn't be hard to find. It was a very good likeness, but like I said above, his jaw looked a bit...funny. They put a hinge on it so he could open and close his mouth, and it works, but it looks kinda like a duck's beak in a way. Still, otherwise, it's a sharp figure. He comes with his cursed form and even a set of nunchucks! Other than that, I haven't seen much. I have some stickers and postcards with him on them, but they were a part of a set of everybody. There's a lot of Talbain art in the Japanese Capcom Illustrations book. I'm always looking for new DS stuff, so if I see any more Talbain stuff, I'll let ya know.Quote:

And and has anyone seen the shitty, shitty American Darkstalkers cartoon? Man, it was bad. I have almost every episode on tape just for the novelty of it, but it was pure shit. Typical cheesy American cartoon animation. Morrigan sounded like Mike Myers doing his Scottish accent, Dimitri sounded like Bela Logosi, and Pyron sounded completely gay. And the "good" Darkstalkers had a little Harry Potter wannabe tagging along with them...the show blew, plain and simple. For some reason the open and closing credits were pretty cool, though...

I think that everyone will agree with me when I say that Vampire has a sexy, classy feel that has never, and can never be duplicated.
I have the ones that are in the "Capcom Gift Surprise Figures" set...what's annoying is that they all come in yellow "Santa Claus" type gift bags (with the character's picture and logo on it), so you don't know if you got the original color or a crummy variant color scheme until you open the bag...lucky for me, the guy at the dealer's booth let me open the bags and pick exactly which ones I wanted. I really don't like the colors other than the primary, either. These things are very cool, though.Quote:

Does anyone have any particular colors that they like to use for their characters?
I generally prefer Morrigan with the blond hair ( Shork Kick, I think ), Demitri with the dark blue uniform ( Roundhouse Kick ), Lilith in Orange and Black ( it makes her clothing changes black in her winpose also ) are a few of my favorites.
The voice and sound effect tracks are top-of-the-line also: You can't forget these ( my personal favs )
Talbain's howling
Bishamon's "Hien-Zan" EX Uppercut voice echo and the evil laughter of his Armor in his Victory pose
Lilith's joyful "Yatte de" winpose ( in M_S's sig )
Demitri's the rhythmic gouging bites in his Midnight Pleasure followed by the 4 kicks and "GET MY RAGE!"
Phobo's "offline" sound
Victor's grunts, particularly his Fierce Button hits

Best ways to finish an opponent: Morrigan's Darkness Illusion (I think that is the name... I should start remembering them) and Lilith's comparable super. Nothing better than a 20+ hit combo to finish them off.
Morrigan has some of the best supers... well, the nicest variety, I think. That Cryptic Needle super isn't too great but fun to use once in a while, anyway.
My love for this series know no bounds. i remember when I first saw it in my March 95 issue of Gamefan(actually, my first issue of gamefan), and mu jaw dropping when I saw what it looked like. Friends of mine dismissed it as street fighter with monsters, but so what? Even if it was, it has a whole lot more personality to me than street fighter. Sadly, the only one I have is Vampire Chronicles, but that is all I need. i love the music in it.

My favorite game of all time! (or games?) Vampire series ROCKS! I bought it for PS when it came out (long box) and the import PS (Vampire) last year. Also have Night Warriors and Vampire Savior on Saturn. Great games! I'd love to have the garage kits and other figures. They look very nice but sum are hard to come by. Hopefully this year, I can get a dedicated arcade machine of Darkstalkers. Truly love the game!

Yeah, I just have Vampire Savior for Sat. and Vampire Chronicles for DC. After playing VC for DC with the Saturn pad, I have to agree with Aurora on certain... things. Really, with those two I'm only wanting another game in the series.

Oh but that's the fun...throwing out a slow missle and then dashing up and starting a combo as soon as it hits and no one ever sees the low missle coming. The trick is to always hold back--when your jumping back (and launching mines at your opponent) so as soon as you hit the ground you can launch the missle--and then dash right up to them and beat them senseless...I've played some amazing MvC2 players and BB Hood just confuses the hell out of them...Quote:

The charge time is really short and you can keep a pretty constant rate of missle fire if you mix up slow and fast ones...
She has some other, non-charge, moves, like the basket attack which can be tacked on to a nice combo or her cheer and fire attacks--awesome as two in ones--hold forward as you come down, do a few hits and then finish by flaming 'em...
And then there's her supers...
That is a travesty...But at least the Japanese anime is awesome...Oh how the U.S. likes to butcher other countries ideas...Quote:

Oh, remember what I said before about seeing something new each time I play? Well, I saw the only "Counter-Pursuit" in the game, from Anakaris.
When you are on the ground ( after being knocked down ), tap F, D, DF + Kick. If your opponent tries to pursue you, they will fall into Anakaris' trap, a portal that drops them from the sky for damage while you recover.
DS was always ahead of it's time.
Damn, Anakaris has a counter-pursuit? Wow. There's just so damn much to the DS games...I really think the DS series is where the Capcom designers have free reign to just go all-out with their wacky ideas. A super like Lilith's "Showtime" (AKA "The Gloomy Puppet Show") or Jedah's "Blood Contract" thingy is proof of that. Did you know that Anakaris has a coin catching mini-game as a win pose?

Here's how to do the Anakaris mini-game- after beating someone, before Anakaris does his win pose, press and hold LK. It's weird, you control that little guy that lives in Anakaris' coffin while Anakaris throws coins all over the screen. Playing the game or collecting the coins doesn't seem to serve any real purpose, but it's amusing.

Nope, you aren't the only one - Rikuo is one of my main characters. I can keep people on edge with him :D I use either Savior or Hunter Rikuo in Vampire Chronicles. I prefer to have the use of his screw jet, so it's mostly Hunter. He has very good moves, but he can be awkward for a newbie to use. He's one of the characters for me in which his normal moves are as good or sometimes even better than his specials.Quote:

His Trick fish is very nasty against an opponent :p You can do the Back, Back hops, and change to the Screw Jet instead - it messes with opponents heads. His kicks are very far reaching, especially his standing Roundhouse Button Shell kick. His low "Frog Leg" kicks are pretty good too. His Crystal Lancer is good for turtlers ( close HCB + Punch ).

It's my favorite 2D fighting series. I love it to bits, but don't feel the need to say anything about it, other than VC is definitely _not_ worthless and SNK vs Capcom has the cutest version of Felicia ever.

Just wondering did Jon Talbain appeared in any other game besides the Vampire fighting series since I am a big fan :D I hoped he would be in the Pocket Fighter game but alas :( The only other game I can think of is Card Fighters Clash for NGPC, where there any else?

For Bulleta's super in SvC, it's the grandmother for a one stock super and Gallon for the 2 stock super. Phobos is in one of her 2 stock supers as well. Thought I was seeing things the first couple times it happened.

The move is slow, but unblockable. keep in mind that this super is only in the original MvC...it was removed for MvC2, for some stupid reason. And considering that Morrigan hits a naughty pose afterwards that makes her look like she totally enjoyed what she has done, it's safe to say that something a tad perverted happened behind that curtain... ;)

One of the reason I loved to use Morrigan originally, I always found Succubi (spelled that way, Succubus singular) fun. :) Then came Lillith, and I thought she was great because she was so much more goofy. However, I haven't seen everything they have in the Crossover series, because there were other characters I'd rather play in those games, and Morrigan seemed almost bland mixed in with all freakishness. And no Lillith, like you guys were just talking about. :(

The Darkstalker characters get mangled in all the Crossover games except for ironically SNK's SNK vs Capcom so they're not worth playing. Bulleta in MvsC2 is like another character. -_-
Yes, I too would love a true new game in the Vampire series. I would buy a system for it without hesitation. It's just a very fun fighting series with great characters, but sadly Capcom seems to have forgotten they make fighting games. I think Jojo is the only actually new one on the horizon. :(

Yes, I've seen Lilith's win quotes...I own the import saturn version of Vampire Savior, and it has an English language option. How cool is it for Capcom to include an option like that? I love Capcom.
