For the spirit of the season, I went back and beat SOTN. Does anyone else do things like this for the holidays? What "october"ish games have you guys been playing?

animal crossing, time to get some candy, i want my downstairs decked out in halloween too.
city of heroes had a halloween event last year, hopefully it will come out again.
Great idea!
I remember last year that I was running around my town in Animal Crossing trying to snatch all of the Halloween goodies I could get from Jack.
I have been watching lots of horror films all this month...but I haven't really played any games to fit with the season. I'll get on it.
Never did finish Obscure...maybe that's a good place to start!
No, that game is crap. The puzzles are crap, the combat is crap...Hmm, yeah I'm thinking 100% crap.Quote:

I'm thinking about playing a little RE4 on the cube.
I kinda like what I've played of Obscure. It's kind of like playing a cheesy teen-slasher movie. If that makes any sense...Quote:

Fatal Frame plz.
ALSO, Nightmare Before Christmas comes out for you legit kids this tuesday.
Who could forget about that?! :DQuote:

Someone recommend a really good horror flick. I need to see something that fucks shit up major.
Nightmare Before Christmas - the game? Why so late? The movie has been out for years.
Well, when it came out in Japan, it was the 10th anniversary (Last Year)
Whether you ultimately like it or not, there can be no denying that The Beyond "fucks shit up major."Quote:

It's just not Halloween without Monster Party.
Since we're talking survival horror, how was Capcom's "girl and her dog" game that came out recently?
Only games I can think of are Resident Evil (GC), RE4 and Castlevania AOS and DS.
That and watch the Aliens/Freddy/Jason movies.
I'm playing Castlevania DS and Indigo Prophecy.
Maybe after that I'll finally go back and finish Silent Hill.
Also, a little Ghouls & Ghosts/ Super G&G is likely.
Guinea Pig. Or if you're into Silent Hill, Jacob's Ladder.Quote:

And for horror movie, Requiem for a Dream.
There really needs to be more games in the "Halloween" genre. Yes, the Castlevanias, the old Splatterhouse, Gn'G, maybe the survival horror genre games too... but it's an obvious candidate for games.
Any games with evil, possessed scarecrows or pumpkins?
I'm not a Scooby fan, but that game looks like a great Halloween play.
Actually, the most recent Scooby game (dunno if it's out yet or not) looks fairly promising. Looks like Sly Cooper with a Scooby-Doo coat of paint.
I remember seeing some stuff on a homebrew game for the PC years ago called Cemetary Cat, and it really fit the bill as far as a 'Halloween' theme goes...but sadly I don't think it really ever got off of the ground.Quote:

Ah! I might play some Jack Bros. for Virtual Boy. The game was centered around halloween...with the characters being Jack Skeleton, Jack Frost, and Jack O Lantern.
Guinea Pig is really overrated. The only good one is Flowers of Flesh and Blood. All the rest are pretty crappy.Quote:

I liked the first and second Hellraisers. Jacob's Ladder is also a winner. Those, some DS, and maybe some other activites will take place on my birthday.
What about Devil's Experiment and Mermaid in a Manhole?Quote:

I've watched parts of Friday the 13th part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan 3 times on Cinemax in the past week. Saw Corpse Bride last week, was dissapointed with it (it seemed confused about it's own characters and was pretty abrupt at about an hour and fifteen minutes long).
Amen. Great game, and required playing. Bloody hard, but completely beatable. Fond memories of this one, powering up the in sewers for an hour, and then running that energy to the end of the game.Quote:

Was there ever any peanut butter involved? You know what I mean...
If, by some miracle, Call of Cthulhu manages to ship on time that might be a good candidate for a Halloween game. If not you could pick up a copy of In the Mouth of Madness or Dagon for pretty cheap on dvd. (unashamed Lovecraft fan)
Anyone heard anything more about this game?

I second that. Dagon is good stuff.Quote:

I've got the NBC for xbox, as far as I know there isn't going to be a special edition and that makes me sad... :( The japanese one had an extra dvd and everything.
Its all about Susperia and Freakshow.
I just watched the Twilight Zone movie too.

You want possessed pumpkins? Splatterhouse has one that does a little bit of possessing itself. In one scene, Mr. Pumpkinhead comes out and speaks in some unknown language while you are fighting some zombies. If you don't hit him first, any zombies you've knocked down will rise up to take another piece of you.
Haunting Ground (Demento in Japan) is enjoyable for survival horror fans. It plays alot like Clock Tower 3, which isn't all that surprising since a good number of people who worked on CT3 work on Demento as well. The general consensus of the gaming media is that it is very average (mostly 7/10's).Quote:

After Cold Fear, I am going to actually get to the first Suffering game since it has been sitting on my shelf for months.
Scary Games that I recommend:
Missing: Since January (PC) -A unique real-life style adventure game. Very, very creepy if you let yourself get into it.
System Shock 2 (PC) -If you havn't played it, do yourself a favor and get to it. If you have played it, play it again.
Sanitarium (PC) -Mid-90's adventure game. This game just creeped me the heck out.
This thread made me think about Campfire. Which after searching everywhere, including Daydream's website, it appears to have been scrapped.
Like the idiot I am, I stayed up till 4 something to beat ghostbusters extream on the GBA. IMO it is an alright game. You get to be the spanish guy, and the goth girl. You can switch between the two them on the fly. Each has their own special abilties. It kind of reminds me of older castlevania games, except not mind numbing hard.

You just bumped a year-old buttplant thread.
I hope the Willamette mall gets decked out with jack-o-lanterns.
Play Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.
All of you. Right now.
I expected to love Cthulhu but it didn't really click with me. It took forever to get a weapon. Not that I need to shoot things in games to enjoy them(I am a big fan of graphic adventures after all) but the beginning felt kind of slow. I do plan on going back to it some time though.
No, I'm playing it on 360. AA & upscaled resolution make the environments look insanely nice. Runs smooth as silk, too.
I can see that, but for me it was just how well they pulled off the setting and the feel of the old table-top CoC RPG; feeling of helplessness, a dark world of enemies and few friends, and of course the looming feeling that you're going completely batshit crazy. That's why I loved the game, the gunplay was 'meh' and the sneaking was 'grrr'.
Well, hey, right on..
I liked the beginning alot, but once you get to Attack of the Fishmen it starts to play like Splinter Cell, except instead of snapping people's necks your character goes insane. That part goes on & on, too. But once you get past it, things really pick up. I only just got weapons, about 30 % through the game.
I'm like 15% into CoC, but I keep getting stuck at stupid things. Like I was stuck in a fucking basement for like 20 minutes because I couldn't move a ladder out of the way. or something.
It's just not very intuitive.
I love the Eternal Darkness-ish vibe though.
I guess this haloween will be all about Mortal Kombat Armageddon (October 9th) but I'll make time to finish Fatal Frame 3, and start on Rule of Rose.
It's about that time of year to dust off Fester's Quest and throw it in the NES.

Hahaha....in CoCth I was just violently interrogated by J. Edgar Hoover. That was awesome.
Basketball Nightmare for SMS plz.
I shall play:
-Decap Attack
-Goldex Axe 2 (not Halloween-ish, but me and my bro used to always play this on Halloween)
-your mom
plus I am gonna eat some candy cotc
cotc is not funny anymore.
Was it ever?
You guys are jealous that 50% of TNL does love you like they love cotc. It's ok. You can cry. I won't tell anyone.
