Dragon Quest 8

Picked up the slime controller today - but not where I pre-ordered it. Game Crazy was the only place that had it, so I made the 30 minute drive up there. I'd say it was worth it. I still have another one pre-ordered, but I'll still pick it up. I have a feeling if I hang on to it for like 5 years it will go up in price and be collectable.

I play tested it with the DQVIII demo. While it takes a little getting used to, it eventually works pretty well. The buttons and the d pad are a little off to the left and right, the analogs are small but very useable, and the R1/2-L1/2 buttons look like they're unreachable, but are accessed easily. The cord is removable so you can put the slime in a stand. The cord has prongs similar to an S-video cable but not exactly the same. This is a great collectable and a decent controller. A must for DQ fans.

This game is going to suck out my brains. Hopefully in a good way. I'm anticipating it like I would a small-time rollercoaster ride that's notorious for sometimes beheading children.

Really looking forward to it though. :)

If it's any longer than the last one, I doubt I will play it through more than once. I might put more time in on the casinos this time though.

What's the length on this one? I heard it was 60-80 hours, not 100+ like VII was. I logged 110 hours on the last one and I didn't even do it as a completist. I really wanted to make the slum town, but I could never find 1-2 types of citizens that I needed.

I'd be shocked and surprised if this one didn't have the "Make your own town" Like 3 and VII did.

thsi is the first tiem in my life i get excited about an RPG(besides kingdom hearts 2)

can someone tell me if the leveling up in DQ8 is like te regular RPG level up, more exp = level up? Final Fantasy X leveling gave me nightmares and i quit 10 hours into the game.

anyways anyone know if DQ8 support progressive scan and or widescreen(i doubt) but just thought id ask :)

I got all people to lv99 in about 80 hours, I forget specifically right now. Based on how they handled the last fight, I'd say getting to 60 is sufficient.

Just a bouns dungeon, that's all for extras.

I must say I haven't been this psyched for a game since Final Fantasy XI Online. This is going to be some good stuff. Too bad I have a Medical Terminology final the same week.
