Bacon Mcshig and Dog$ on this board also seem to think this game sucks. Go to any game forum with a topic about this game--most people are disappointed. I really didn't enjoy the game (among other problems the story sucks, the combat gets very tedious and drawn out-- I hate the system), and when that happens, I say a game sucks. I don't like to waste my time on average or below average games. Maybe some of you do, and that's fine, but I'd rather spend my gaming time on games that are really worth it. But I realise people have different tastes.

Oh good LORD please don't say Grandia 3 is good. Have you played it? That game is one of the most boring, dull, and generic RPGs I've ever played. For reference Grandia 1 (JP Saturn version) is one of my all-time fave RPGs, and I got similarly bored with Grandia II and never finished it. I'd rank 3 on par with 2 or a bit worse.

No, it's true. How many copies of DQ7 did they sell here? DQ Monsters? DQIII for the GBC? They all flopped. The DQ series has never made Enix any money over here, except with the first two on the NES. Now that SE is in charge, as a big gaming company, they want to appeal to the masses and profit, right? The masses don't like DQ. They like FF.

I'm just saying, it sucks that they have to change/remove stuff, but it makes sense from a business standpoint.

If the majority of people say a game sucks (game mags included-- and MC got some shitty scores), odds are heavily in favor of the conclusion that it does indeed suck. Why don't you sit down and play through Magna Carta to the end and tell me how good of an experience it was (you say you've only played an hour so far). It's odd that you seem determined to like a game simply to spite of the majority who don't. But hey, whatever floats yer boat.

Alright. New challenge. I won't touch anything else until i've played Magna Carta all the way through. That'll be tough, since i hate sticking to one game at a time, but i'll do it. If i hate it, i'll be the first to admit it and never mention it again. If i like it, i'll bring it up all the time. LIKE RADIATA STORIES? Like Radiata Stories, which i played through all the way to the end without playing another game.

I read the first page of that thread and Jesus Christ, I thought some of you TNL'ers were annoying?! I've never seen so much posturing, so much, "Hey! I'm edgy and clever!" on any board. Made me want to buy Magna Carta that much more.

I'm playing both and I'm still not sure, and probably won't be until much further in. DQVIII blows Magna Carta out of the water in terms of production values but the combat system seems pathetically tame and boring after trying the latter. I'm really wishing DQVIII had an auto-attack option like the SMT series because practically all I've done during the six or so hours that I've spent with it is select attack and then the first enemy. I healed during the first boss battle a couple times as well. (And can I just say that while the voice acting has been great overall so far that guy annoyed the shit out of me? Because he did. Thankfully it only lasted about five minutes.)

I'm only a few hours into both so maybe DQVIII stays steady while Magna Carta breaks down into a mess or something, but right now the only thing keeping me playing DQVIII is the good looking world and really great music.

Okay, yeah, I can totally see where some of those complaints come from and how it could drag on later in the game. Granted, I could see the same thing happening to DQVIII but since people haven't complained about it there it probably won't.

At least, I think. There was only about five posts from 2-3 people in that thread actually about the game itself, and since I don't know that batch of retards I don't know how any of those opinions stack up.

Exactly like the previous DQ games. Simple, fast, and effective. There is a nice 'sort' option to automatically sort the stuff in your bag either via item type or alphabetically. I've heard this is not in the US version menus. Is that true?
