for angelo i'm leveling his bow, wand and sex apeal or whatever the last one is called for him. i think in the end you're gonna want him more for healing/status spells than any offensive stuff. so put points into wands. the other weapons are up to you...but i prefer bows.

are you killing the infamous/notorius monsters that you can see on the overworld? when you kill the ones required a little cut scene will automatically play. it'll say something like "the monster got back up and respects you...send to morrie?" and you have to click yes or no...then it goes back to his place. i don't think you get access to them until you get the 1st 3 he sent you out to find.

and i thought i mentioned the spear thing before, but i think later on in the game you get more powerful swords than spears...i might be wrong, though. around the mid levels of spears you get that metal cut or something that does damage to hard to hit metal creatures so it's easier to kill them for better experience. you get a move like this with swords as well...so my tip would be to level spear 'til you get that move then focus the rest on swords and do whatever with boomerangs.

i'll have to look at the guide again once i get home to give you more details...

It's a tough decision as to what to lvl. When you're xping and gold farming, it seems different things are better to lvl, but you want to lvl other wpns for boss fights. I've been lvling boomerang for hero, axes and scythes for yangus, bow exclusively for angelo (when you get it high enough, you get an attack that drains mp from the enemy - very useful for a healer). For jessica, I've been lvling staff to the point where it's capped in the 90s at my level. (You get 100mp more and a passive mp regen (2-6 mp) every round) For xping/gold farming, using boomerangs for hero and whip for jessica usually results in fast fights ending in one round.

Finally got around to playing this. Chalk me up as another that isnt really into RPGs. The last RPG I liked was Vagrant Story and before that ummm.... Chrono Trigger. The screen shots had that old school nintendo-like look and feel to them and it just appealed to me ever since i first saw shots of this game. Im very happy with the purchase, those on the fence go for it.

As someone said earlier the game is very relaxing. A refreshing change from most RPGs. Leveling is oddly fun to do. The atmosphere is just about perfect, and the sense of discovery here is great. It doesnt hurt that the music is rocks. This game got a 100% old school classic fantasy/fairytale world. It reminds of looking at all the old hand drawn art in instruction books of the old nes RPGs only now im actually playing those scenes.

To sum it up this game is straight up badass old school fun. A+++++++++++

i must be misssing something....what gold farming? i'm at level 20, 20, 16, 16 at 26 hours.

also i have a buncha gold coins, who'm should i give those to?

this game making me addicted to it, i play it for hours and hours, then i have to go to bed cuz i have to wake up in the morning for work, and all i can think of 24/7 is DQ8 and leveling up! i can't wait to get back home from work today to do more leveling up! as a matter of fact, this game makes me hate work(more than i do already) cuz work is restricting me from playing it all day, fuck work is say! :link:

I think he means fighting for gold and to level up. As for the gold coins, you sell them. That's all they're good for.

So I need some help fighting Dhoulmagus for the first time in the Dark Ruin should I go for the dopplegangers first or does he just summon new ones once they're dead? If so, should I just focus on him instead? What I've been doing is Oomphing up Hero and Yangus while they build tension, then slamming Dhoulmagus for something like 600 in a round. Problem is, it's hard to get a lot of tension built when that fuckward will just reset all everything with the 'thin sheet of ice'.

btw, i sometimes come across little farms....am i supposed to do anything with those? also some treasure boxes are locked(i got the first alchemy key), but is there another i'm supposed to cook up?

I just did that. Took me for-fucking-ever but I nailed it first try.

ignore the dopplegangers and just go for the real Dhoulmagus. He doesn't cast the ice sheet spell too often if you avoid building tension, so what I did was have Angelo cast Kabuff and Jessica cast Insulate to raise by physical defenses and my defense against fire and ice spells (which that fuckers loves to cast in his second form) then I started using Hero's Falcon Slash and Yangus' Monster Masher attack. During the second round I started having Jessica cast Oomph starting with Hero and from this point on it was Angelo's job to cast full heal on whoever had the lowest health (if everyone got hit and two or more people were really low I had Hero cast a fullheal to help out). After Jessica cast Oomph on Yangus and Herself I had her start using Twin Dragon Lash. I got one or two rounds on average of everyone having Oomph on them before I had to start over.
